I measure my hair quite often like every three months or so. I started natural in July 2005 but I only began to measure my hair in December 2005:

December 2005: front ( 14 cm or 5.51 inches )
back ( 11 cm or 4.33 inches )

March 2006: front ( 18 cm or 7.09 inches )
back ( 14 cm or 5.51 inches )

June 2006: front ( 19 cm or 7.43 inches )
back ( 17 cm or 6.69 inches )

August 2006: front ( 20 cm or 7.87 inches )
back ( 17 cm or 6.69 inches )

December 2006: front ( 24 cm or 9.45 inches )
back ( 21 cm or 8.27 inches )

So I guess my hair grows 10 cm or 4 inches a year

I would like to say that in 2005-2006 I didn't do anything else besides braiding my hair ( I guess that is why it didn't grow much ) I only discovered about all those products, oils and scalp massages a couple of months ago. I'm waiting for December 2007.

How fast does your hair grow in a year?

my hair grows about 1/2 inch a month i think... i know this from measuring my NG back in my permie days. however, i didn't always see 6 inches of growth in a year, because of trims, breakage etc. there's a difference between how much hair you actually grow, and how much of that growth you retain. :perplexed

i see 6 inches a year now... not just because i'm natural, but i've picked up better hair care from being on hairboards.

I hope I will have 6 inches of growth in December 2007. What is your hair regimen?

***edited so i won't seem like a board hog... LOL. sent you a PM Afrolinda! ;)

I think my hair grows about 0.5 inch per month, and I'm happy with that. When I take supplement, and it's summer time, my hair can grows about 1 inch ^^
So, I guess it grew 5 inches last year, but due to few setbacks, I retained almost 4 inches. This year, NO MORE setbacks for me O_o!

Not sure, I should document better. I know it's slow though.

Minus setbacks:5,11 inches a year (1,08 cm/month) !

5 to 5.5 in. a year (with vitamins/supplements), a little over 4 to 4.5 in. a year on its own.

I would say w/out ever measuring that I get about 1/2 every 6wks. Get trims/dustings about every 3 months. Retain about 6-7 inchs. (if I dont cut) Summer my hair grows alot more than in the winter. (this is w/out supplements just started taken supplements so we'll see):)

I only started monitoring in November 2006. This winter I have put in roughtly 1/2 to 3/4 inch monthly.

It depends on a couple of factors: my health, stress levels, what country I am in, weather/climate, whether I am pregnant, quality of vitamins, topical treatments, my diet at the time, execise routine, protective styles etc so it is quite hard to say or estimate. But if I have to guesstimate.
1/4 to 1.7 inches depending on the factors I stated above.

I get like .40 inches a month. This is based on how much growth I got when I did a 6 month stretch

I'm not sure because I don't measure anymore. But I think my hair grows about 6 inches a year or 1/2 inch a month. It might be more than that at certain times, but that's the average, I think.

Normally 1/2 inch per month. With braided styles...probably 1/4 inch more than the norm.

less than 1/2 an inch in the colder months, and more in the warmer months. So in the end, about 5.5-6 inches a year

1/2-1 inch a month (1 inch always if i take my vits!)
