How good is elasta qp mango butter at laying down edges?

shrinkage.
Ok, I love the shellacking, unyielding frozen hold I get from the dreaded brown gel :look:  but I usually have to use water or some other product as a base so my hair looks shiny and pretty as opposed to looking like dried sh8t. And plus I hate the smell. I've heard mango butter is good for edges but I don't want to spend 11 dollars on a product I'll never use. I had the regular elasta qp gel my hair laughed at that product. It ate the whole jar in like 3 weeks, WITHOUT ever actually holding my hair down, btw.

Just looking for reassurance.

Thats all I use it for. It is too heavy to be considered a moisturizer. I mix it with some KK gel for a little added oomph.

I just used some to lay my edges down today. It worked really good, and I didn't have to follow up with a gel.

On a scale of 1 to frozen will qp give me a hold comparable to brown gel?

lol if frozen is brown gel, elasta qp is like 3-5...its a soft hold, but it shouldn't fuzz up or unslick esp if you dampen your hair 1st and then tie a scarf around your edges for a few minutes

boo. i wish i could buy a sample size first. i dont want to be disappointed, i need a good gel.

try the ecostylers...my favorite is the blue (hold of 5), but the olive, argan, and krystal have holds of 10..out of those i like the argan oil one the best...my hair isnt dull when i use it, but you can also put a lil oil on your hair to revive the shine later

IMO mango butter worked much better before they changed it. It was my staple, now it doesn't do much for me

ok my local cvs had two ecostylers, clear and pink so i got one of each. if they provide a hard hold i may get the mango butter and use them together

i've never mixed them together, but you have to be careful about what products you use with ecostyler, esp. the clear one because it can form white globs on your hair.

I'm loving ORS edge control at the moment and I love that its not a gel and moisturises.

I love that mango butter for edges!! and ends. It's very hearty.
(But I use it on damp hair and use a scarf over it to help the smashing action...i don't know how well it works w/o the scarf)

Nya33 do you reslick it down daily? Or do you do it once then leave it alone until you wash it again? I want to try this but Im curious how moisturizing and sealing factors in.

@ SuchaLady I can apply it once in the morning. On gym days I do have to retouch slightly.

At night time I am able to do my moisturise and seal routine as normal. Give it another go!!
