I typically straighten once every 4-6 weeks and i've noticed that regardless of how products and strategies used, i can only wear my hair down about 3 or 4 days. After that it's an oily dirty mess so I have to wear a ponytail, some kind of updo, etc.

:wallbash: How long does your flatironed/straightened style last?

Same goes for me. I wash and straighten my hair about ever 7-9 days because of this. I just bought some dry shampoo to see if it might help the style last longer.

1-3 days (3rd day is a stretch) that is why I have to wash my hair 3-4 times a week - so I can style it...I don't even use that much product on it.

Unitl my workout the next day. I'm relaxed so it really doesn't matter much. I can just blow my hair dry, and it's straight.

I thought it was just me lol. My hair is on the fine side anyway which makes it worse. Even if I don't use a lot of product my hair only looks good down 5 days max. When I've just had a relaxer, it can last up to 2 weeks. After 2 weeks post, I have to re do it after 3-4 days or put it up. Depending on whats going on that week determines rather I re-do it or not. If I'm going to do frequent washings, I need to protective style because I'm not going to use heat that often.

3 to 4 days is my max. i wash my hair twice a week. and my hair is fine so it gets oily and piecey after like day 2. sucks!

A week, and that pushing it.
Thats why I only wear my hair down after I get it relaxed every 4 months.

My hair was doing OK even today, which would be day 3. It wasn't an oily mess coz I didn't use oils. I used a serum and a wet heat protectant and if I didn't need to braid it, I probably would have had it doing fine for a few more days. (I love to braid my hair when shrunken and need to make use of this long weekend.) BTW, I know this is off topic but I'm chaffed about how my press went this time and how my hair behaved. It hasn't even the slightest whiff of burn that I've had in the past when I wet my hair (so I thank you LHCF for teaching me about heat protection) and reversion was immediate, so no apparent damage here. Next time I press my hair...some time in the distant future... I'll plan it better so I can wear it as long as possible just to see the true lifespan of a press on my hair.

Like you said 3-4 days... By then I'm ready to repeat my process anyway so normally within 5 days 7 days max I will repeat. I start to see breakage if I don't repeat my system again so it's best for me to be frequent with washing/deep conditioning.

3 days or so. I don't use any product on my hair during those days so I can get more out of it. If I use product we are talking 1 day or less...it's greasy and a mess after a few hours.:lachen:

3 days max for me! I can't believe I used to go two weeks sometimes without washing my hair before finding this forum! It's only been like 5 days since I last washed my hair and I get grossed out every morning when I have to pull it back into my phony pony lol

For me its about 5-7 days and it still looks nice

Ask me again in June and my reply will probably be 5-7 MINUTES

I don't do any additional straightening but I do roller sets which typically last 2/3 days. On day three I simply pin my hair up which will carry me through the day until I wash in the evening, then I go through the same routine again. :)

Rollerset: This is my 1st one, and it's lasting. It's been almost a week so far.

Flatiron: Around a week.

Blow-dry only: couple days.

Two weeks.

If I had to wash all over again after 2 or 3 days I'd shoot myself.

Are some of you using a lot of product or something for it to only last 2 days? My hair is crazy fine and I can still get it to last 2 weeks. Only asking out of curiosity.

actually mine is weird.

it gets drier the more i wear it out.

as long as it doesnt get wet or when the roots are ng. my hair can swang for days.

I have no idea. I actually started using less product and only moisturizing once a day to see if it helped, but after a few days my hair still looks a mess AND it's dry. :nono: So I just try to wash as often as possible.

Day 3 is the limit even with nightly wrapping (which i don't like because it causes my right side to be shorter). i wash my hair 2x a week anyways

Depends on the products used. I washed Thursday and air dried. I flat ironed Friday and so far so good....even though I have been out in the rain all day. I'm hoping to get a week out of this flat iron and so far I have only used a few drops of coconut oil and some Elasta QP conditioning gel (just a dab) to smooth the fly aways.

Hmm, I was wondering if this had to do with hair type (fine, coarse).

I have fine, dense hair. I can't wear anything past 2-3 days before it starts looking Sahara dry(my sandy colored hair makes it look drier), so I wash pretty often.

If I moisturize with an oil based product my hair starts to get piecy and dry and my ends look chewed and thin so I have to wash and start over.

Water ruins the style.

I just wear it in a bun. I can't be bothered right now. I hope to find a solution soon.

I do think it has ALOT to do with hair type, how thick or fine your hair is and what length your hair is. Thicker hair IMO lasts longer down than fine hair. But I feel like even though my hair is fine, the longer it gets the longer I will be able to wear it down without it looking a mess simply b/c of the fact there is longer hair to work with if that makes any sense? How much product and what kind of product makes a difference as well.
