How long have you been a member of this board or other hair boards? When did you officially start your journey?
I've been a member for a little longer than 2 years. I started off on another board but didn't really start getting serious until I joined here too.

Are you natural, transitioning, or relaxed? Were you natural, transitioning, or relaxed when you started?
I'm natural and I've always been natural.

What was your starting length?
I started off at BSL.

What is your current length?
Grazing hip length.

What is your goal length?
Blunt cut tail bone length

Do you know your growth rate?
I have no clue. I'd say it's average.

Are you keeping your hair a certain length by choice?
No.

Have you had any (many) set backs and if so, why?
I had a set back early in my journey with heat damage.

Have you found your staple products and reggie?
Yes, but I like to try new things from time to time.

What challenges are you in or have you been in? Did they help or hinder your journey?
I haven't really been in any challenges on this board. I have on other boards and I felt most of them help with encouragement. Most of these challenges were goal length challenges

If you've been here for 4 years or more, do you think you've reached your maximum potential?
N/A

How long have you been a member of this board or other hair boards? When did you officially start your journey?
-I've been a member of LHCF since Jul '09 (paying member Nov '09) but I officially started my journey after a failed attempt at transitioning in Apr '09. Backwards, I know. :look:
Are you natural, transitioning, or relaxed? Were you natural, transitioning, or relaxed when you started?
-I'm relaxed but was transitioning when I had a chunks of my hair loc :nono: and then I relaxed and had a major trim
What was your starting length? SL
What is your current length? APL
What is your goal length? MBL
Do you know your growth rate?
-Not really since I just started watching but I had only retained 4-4.5" when I reached the 1 yr mark this year.
Are you keeping your hair a certain length by choice?
-Nope. I had been SL for as long as I can remember when I found the boards so now my hair is the longest it's ever been in my life.
Have you had any (many) set backs and if so, why?
-Not yet. I hope it stays that way.
Have you found your staple products and reggie?
-Yes and it took a lot of $$$ & time experimenting until I found what works for me.
What ch
allenges are you in or have you been in? Did they help or hinder your journey?
-APL 2010 and currently BSL 2011 & MBL 2011 (definitely a stretch). I think the encouragement from the ladies in the challenges is what helps the most. Knowing that I'm not the only person trying to reach a certain goal enables me to keep pressing through the times when I get fed up with the process and feel like giving up.

How long have you been a member of this board or other hair boards? When did you officially start your journey?
Oct 2008

Are you natural, transitioning, or relaxed? Were you natural, transitioning, or relaxed when you started?
Natural

What was your starting length?
2 inches below SL

What is your current length?
@ 2 inches from WL

What is your goal length?
HL

Do you know your growth rate?
.25 of an inch per month. A little more some mos (.33)

Are you keeping your hair a certain length by choice?
No

Have you had any (many) set backs and if so, why?
1st yr very little retention, not enough moisturize I'm guessing + stress may've slowed growth

Have you found your staple products and reggie?
For the most part

What challenges are you in or have you been in? Did they help or hinder your journey?
WL 2011, BSL 2009-helped

How long have you been a member of this board or other hair boards?
I joined LHCF first. It's the only board I post on consistently. I've been a member for 2 years.

When did you officially start your journey?
August 2008.

Are you natural, transitioning, or relaxed?
I'm relaxed, but I no longer relax my hair bone straights, so I guess you could say I'm "texlaxed"

Were you natural, transitioning, or relaxed when you started?
Relaxed, bone straight

What was your starting length?
Neck/nape length - it was pretty short.

What is your current length?
Armpit-length

What is your goal length?
When I started, my goal was only shoulder length. Now my short-term goal is full BSL and my long-term goal is waistlength.

Do you know your growth rate?
My growth rate is average, 5-6 inches a year. I trim whenever the whim hits me, 2 or 3 times a year, so I haven't retained every inch.

Are you keeping your hair a certain length by choice?
I've thought about maintaining at BSL...we'll see. But, I'm not there yet. My hair is thick and it's a lot to handle, even with a relaxer.

Have you had any (many) set backs and if so, why?
Um, my only setback so far was Curlformers. I had breakage in an area where I was too rough with the latch. I also used too much heat over vacation in the summer. Stress from law school (like at the height of it, around finals, has an affect on my hair, skin, weight, everything).

Have you found your staple products and reggie?
Yes, but I keep changing, anyway. My staples are KeraCare and Phyto. I like Hairveda products in the summertime.

What challenges are you in or have you been in? Did they help or hinder your journey?
A million and one...none of them were helpful except maybe rollersetting, but I was doing that b4 the challenge. I like the "(insert length) 2010 challenges" etc. that start each year.

If you've been here for 4 years or more, do you think you've reached your maximum potential?
n/a.........I haven't been here for 4 years, but I feel confident I'll reach my goal of waistlength by the time 4 years passes.I believe in being realistic. My hair is medium-fine and chemically processes, so I'm not going to have the same retention rate as people over at LHC.

How long have you been a member of this board or other hair boards?
I joined LHCF first. It's the only board I post on consistently. Technically, I've been a member since 2006, but I actually subscribed towards the end of 2010.

When did you officially start your journey?
Decided to go natural in Sept 2008 (last relaxer was around that period. Began my HHJ towards the end of 2010 (after I officially subscribed to LHCF).

Are you natural, transitioning, or relaxed?
I'm natural but lately have been thinking about texturizing.

Were you natural, transitioning, or relaxed when you started?
Relaxed/texlaxed (but I didn't know it had a name).

What was your starting length?
Relaxed, uneven SL (with front closer to chin/nl).

What is your current length?
Natural (much more even) btw SL and APL when stretched.

What is your goal length?
My short-term goal is full APL and my long-term goal is full MBL.

Do you know your growth rate?
Not a clue. How can this be accurately measure if I don't have anything to go by (like relaxed or colored hair)?

Are you keeping your hair a certain length by choice?
Nope, I'll let it grow as long as it wants to get.

Have you had any (many) set backs and if so, why?
Yes:
Tangles that I ended up tugging until hair broke off (bec I was impatient and didn't know how to properly deal with my hair).
SSKs and split ends I've had to trim off.
Kinky twists that pulled too much on my edges and broke off some of my hair.
Crochet braids (whatever it's called) that also dd damage to my hair.
Seborrhea Dermatitis that, when it flares up, gives me a red, sensitive, and inflammed scalp that causes hair to fall out.

Have you found your staple products and reggie?
Kinda. Giovanni products and Jojoba oil seem to work great with my hair. I'm still searching for a no-protein, no-cones moisturizing DC. And ideas?
My reggie varies depending on how lazy I am. It's hard keeping up with everything.

What challenges are you in or have you been in? Did they help or hinder your journey?
I just recently joined my first challenge this year? APL in 2011 Challenge.

If you've been here for 4 years or more, do you think you've reached your maximum potential?
n/a.........I haven't been here for 4 years (only since 2010), but I feel confident I'll reach my goal of full MBL by the time my 4 anniversary (end of 2014) passes.
