I took down my weave yesterday and i saw..

Breakage and thinning front.. I am soo heartbroken.. I really hoped that this ps would allow me to go to bsl no issue.. But while it has given me length, this thinning front is unacceptable..

sigh.. I didnt want to believe it for me, but i do have VERY thin hair....

I need to recover and most likely will be bunning at least until spring... if not longer...

any tips on what other steps i can take.. Ill take pics when i get home from work ( i am at work.. lol ta 3:37am )

about 2 years ago I wore my last and final weave cos of thinning. In fact there were bald patches. I didn't even like the weaves it was more of a convenience thing for me. I have a very soft scalp and intolerence for any sort of braided hairstlyes. Anyway the stylist yanked my hair out. Thankfully it has grown back. It still looks thinner than I remember but its back and I naturally have thin hair so it may just be me being picky. So I offer you encouragement that it will grow back.

Keep up the healthy hair maintenance, DC, moisturise etc and it'll grow back

My edges are very sensitive so if you're going to wrap your hair at night make sure you don't wrap too tight so your edges don't thin more due to friction. I discovered that kind of recently and your edges will come back if you're nice to them.

For low manipulation maybe try half wigs? That way there won't be stress on your edges but your hair is still protected.

idk that i'll be able to blend a half wig with my hair.... one of my big things is that i hate blending. which was why i was wearing full weaves from the start.. i didnt think my hair would thin out like this.. But where there is this issue is where she would sew tight for the closure she would make... sigh...

Sorry this happened to you! How long did you keep the weave in? Also, did your stylists braid too tight? Just some things to look out for when getting a weave installed.

But for now, I would DC and baby your hair. I would also be sure to incorporate a mild protein weekly to help thicken your strands. Also, Castor Oil is a good one to help thicken those strands as well.

You'll be fine. Just use this as a learning tool for next time.

sorry that happened. it took me years to realize that my hair and scalp just dont like sew ins... i would retain length, but gosh is was so thin and shed after i took them down,,, like the other ladies said.. just baby the area and take care it and it will grow back... castor oil has worked wonders on my hair as well.

i didnt think the braids were too tight, i think the sewing is what got me... My hair shed sooooo much, but i didnt think it was that bad. I kept the weave in from 7-10 weeks. But thinking back looking at my hair, it was soooo fine that length of time was pushin it for me.

where can i acquire this Castor oil you speak of.... and protein treatment recommendations... and moisturizer recommendations too lol
