omg yal, i did it! i finally did it yal! i couldn't take it anymore. i sat around all day on 2/10/2010, with my hair soaked in condish, trying to decide if i wanted to attempt detangling, or if i wanted to chop it all off. after hours of debate, and one lousy attempt at detangling, i told myself to go for it. it started off with just a few snips, and eventually all of the relaxed ends were gone. i feel so free. i'm so happy that my transition was over. it was full of frustration and unnecessary hardships for me. i'm excited to start experimenting with my hair.
oh yeah, i'm 12 months post relaxer yal. and i know i said i was gonna be a long transitioner, wouldn't do the bc, would never cut my hair shorter than apl, blah de blah de blah. but i LIED! oh well. i just could not wait any longer, and its sad when the thought of doing your own hair makes you miserable, angry, frustrated, and sad. the bc was worth it. and if i'm lucky, i'll make to apl by the end of the year like i did in 09. i think my chances are pretty good.
here is the beginning of my hair journey, just for the rest of the story.
these were the first few snips. i was scurred so i told myself i'd just snip a few pieces to see what my hair looked like...
but it quickly turned into a whole section chopped!
i can't believe this was all the relaxed hair i had left on my head.
oh well. i'm just glad its gone.
this was after i finished cutting off the relaxed ends. its dry and stretched.
i'm shocked at the amount of hair i have 12 months post. looking at it, it seems like alot, but then again, i feel like i should have more. i can't complain though, i had great growth in 09 and it got me to apl.
look at all that hair. maybe thats why it was so hard to transition towards the end.
i can't believe thats all my hurr.
this is my hair soaked with Aussie Deep, and some oils. its shrinking already!
my hair soaked that stuff up! i guess i really needed it. i often neglected my hair during this transition, with infrequent washing and barely moisturizing. i got some catching up and babying to do.
this is after i rinsed my hair. i towel dried it (couldn't resist). look how frizzy!
i sprayed it with sprayed it with a mix of condish, oil, and water, and look how much that sucka shrank!
i love how dark my hair is now.
i knew better than to towel dry. it made my hair frizzy and it seemed like that sucka started growin!
i finally decided on my first natural styling attempt. flat twists! this is the first section. i used coconut oil and Kids Organid Shea Butter (or sumtin like that lol)
flat twisting was so easy on fully natural hair! i remember when i tried it as a transitioner, it was hard as hell! i think i did okay, since i've only flat twisted twice, and that was on transitioning hair.
lmbo! i can't part worth crap, so i ran out of hair at the end.
anyway, thats all i got right now yal. i will post the results of my first twist out tomorrow. i hope yal enjoy the pics. i'm gonna have so much fun on this journey!
UPDATE 2/12/10: here are the results of my twistout ladies.
lmao! i didn't realise i had to twist each side of my head in opposite directions. so the left side looked good, and the right side was jacked.
this is the best shot i could get of the back. i really suck at those lol.
i decided to twist the right side back up, so i could make the style work
it was just okay. it was kinda frizzy back there from me not separating it the right way... other than that, it was alright. i'm looking forward to seeing how this style changes as my hair gets longer. on to the next style next week.
