So I'm relaxing tomorrow with ORS No-Lye regular (mixed with avocado oil) and I wanted to know:

Is there any advice you want to give when relaxing long-term stretched hair?? i.e. how much should I detangle before hand, how should I section it, how long should I expect to take, etc.

I'm really quite anxious to relax my hair one because I haven't stretched this long in my life and two because I want to see how long my hair has gotten (I'm pretty sure it's past MBL yayyyy).

Thanks in advance :drunk:

Well i kno i strected recently for about 6 to 6 1/2 months and i just texlaxed last month. I made sure i used a good protein deep condish a few days before, detangled good so i didnt have to detangle while applying because that can get messy! And i did 6 sections. 2 small, the front edges pinned up and the nape hair because these areas are easy to overprocess. And four big, two front and two back. Starting in the middle i started in medium like sections...then after applied, went thru and applied more as need while smoothing. If you do small section it will take long because you are dealing with alot of hair now since you have alot of new growth, its almost like doing a relaxer on a head full of virgin hair, lol! If you take long guess what?
The front would be straight than the back or vice versa. And bam!!! Make sure to put some kind of condish on your already processed hair...rinse and follow with a deep moisturizing condish!

Hopefully my advice is useful! Goodluck...

You are going to need to detangle thorougly before you relax to avoid losing copious amounts of hair. Take your time today and careful do it in small sections and finish by perhaps leaving the hair in several plaits/braids so that the hair is soft and hopefully manageable for you for tomorrow.

Good luck!!

I think that you should definitely detangle thoroughly, pre-part your relaxed hair and relax in sections for the best results.

I also recommend that you cover your previously relaxed hair with conditioner and vaseline. I actually mix vaseline and neutralizing shampoo on my previously relaxed ends with great results.

Make sure you post pics when you are done!

Thanks for you guys' support :)
I'm about to go ahead and start the process!!! Yay!!!
And yes, I will post pics tomorrow!

Ummm...Well I can't stretch, I fail everytime. This is what I mean. I flat iron my hair the week before my relaxer so it is easier to section and apply the relaxer. One time I tried to relax my hair after doing a braidout so my hair was really curly, let's just say it took me twice as long to finish relaxing and when I was done, my scalp was so tender from try to navigate thru the tangles. Oh and I got burned from irritating my scalp during the relaxer. Never again.

Congrats on your stretch though. :) I admire you resilience.

Bump.

Progress pics?? Sorry, I'm contemplating a 3-month relaxer stretch (that's long for me) and anxious to see the results from your stretch!
