Hey Ladies,

So I've been MIA for about a year now. Since then a lot has changed, I'm no longer natural as of September 2011. I was natural for about 6 years or so. When I told you guys that I was moving to Florida in 2010 my hair took note of that and as soon as the plane landed my curls threw a fit! Natural hair in over 80% humidity + 'tender-headedness' = FAIL...so now I'm texlaxed and loving it! It's kind of like having the best of both worlds -- I know, greedy

Anyway I realize that a lot of you may not know me but I lurk every blue moon just to see if theirs any new hype. The pic in my siggy I took yesterday, 7/12/12 after touching up a 9 week stretch. I'm 5"10 with a long neck & torso so it takes longer for my hair to reflect real length --otherwise I would be a solid MBL by now lol. I did cut a few inches off in Oct 2011 for no other reason beside's wanting to deal with fresh ends with my new tex-laxed hair.

I can't believe how my hair has grown since I first joined LHCF in 2005 (my username was different then). I don't have any comparison pics on hand but I was CBL when I first joined LHCF and at that time I had just jumped on the natural bandwaggon. 7 years later and I am @ 79% of my goal length (WL) and I have a reggie that my hair loves and appreciates. Even when I divert from my reggie to try new things, I know what products to look for and which ones to avoid because I know my hair!

Are any of you interested in a texlax reggie? Let me know as I am happy to share. Also if you need a reggie for natural 3c/4a hair I can provide that too. My natural pics are still in my LHCF album.

I just want to say thanks to you guys who are Veterans on here who have contributed tremendously to my hair journey so far!

:grin:WL JULY 2014 IS LOOKING MIGHTY GOOD!

LightEyedMami you've been on LHCF for a few years so I will spare you what you probably already know about protective styles, moisturizing/sealing & co-washing.
What worked for me over all being natural are these things: low manipulation, sulfur powder & avocado oil mix (retention), Henna every 3 months (which I still do), and sulfate-free products. Henna-ing regularly trumps everything in terms of conditioning, strength and length retention. I get mine from hennasooq.com, Kadijah is a Godsend!

Welcome back! Your hair looks great. I love being texlaxed too! Do you mind sharing your reggie for that?

This is almost an exhaustive list so it's quite detailed. PM me if you need more details. :)

Protective Style: 95% in Summer/80% Rest of the Year
No direct heat in summer , otherwise may flat iron/blow dry once every 10 weeks
9 week stretching - I get some breakage if I go any longer
Texlax w/ Elasta QP w/Olive Oil Infusion/Regular
Sulfate-free poo (Loreal SleeknShine) 1x week
Co-Wash Moisture (Loreal SleeknShine or Suave Almond & Shea) 1 xs week
Co-Wash Protein (Aubrey Organics GBP or MegaTek <-- MT is THE TRUTH)
*Note: Being texlaxed, for me it is imperative that I alturnate between soft protein and moisture when it comes to conditioner
Leave-in: ORS Olive Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion or Kinky Curly Knot Today (just a quarter size amount on damp hair) / Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Reconstructor when needed (this is a protein spray and is amazing)
Seal Ends w/ Olive or Avocado oil.

Every three months I do a full henna treatment (I get mine from hennasooq)
The week before I touch up my roots I massage in my 'retention mix' of sulfur powder & avocado oil to the scalp only.
I always protect the length of my hair from the relaxer cream with a mix of EVOO & Suave dry conditioner

Tools used - Denman brush, wide tooth comb, soft boar bristle brush.

I am absolutely interested in the Texlax reggie. I'm in week 15 of a 16-week stretch and have been seriously thinking of texlaxing because I spend most of my time in twist outs. Its so funny that I have to straighten my hair just to kink it up with twists...lol. Whatcha got?

What type if henna do you use?

eta: I see you said Yemeni in your profile

Nice length retention! What was your natural regimen?

Lace wigs (hair was cornrows underneath), Bunning, JUICING, and henna were key factors for me being natural. I did co wash but not a lot because that tended to pour into the overmanipulation category which I tried to avoid. Some products I used then... MT for cowashing and quick rinse (I still use this) cream of nature poo 2xs a mo and Paul mitchell's tea tree shampoo 1x mo. The tea tree poo is an amazing clarifier that didn't strip my hair. DC with ORS Pak 1x mo. Leave ins - my own concoction of butters, braid spray, water, and at the time, MTG. But these days we just buy sulfur powder and mix it w oils of our choice and apply to the scalp.

In my LHCF album I have pics of my natural hair and how I did my squeeze n smooth w organic Shea butter and gel for curl definition. I was mostly fine 3c...with a twist of 4a :)

Yes... Yemeni is the TRUTH. Just did a henna treatment two nights ago as a matter of fact! The yemini batter is a little more coagulated then the other ones which helps it to stay on my head rather than the floor. It also gives a much deeper red tone than the others. I leave it on for at least 6hrs.I don't mix it with butters or oils.. Just henna and the juice of 26 lemons. I squeeze my henna out with suave condish, then deep con with an ORS Pak under a hooded dryer for 1hr. NO SHAMPOO FOR AT LEAST A WEEK after I henna bc I want the color to be as brilliant as possible.
