After six years on LHCF and watching so many beautiful heads of hair take the leap. . . I too am going to go natural. There has been a lot of soul searching (yes, it's been that deep for me). I've decided to take the leap and go natural. I'm going the transitions route. I'm only 10 weeks post relaxer. So, I will definitely be leaning on you ladies for support.

I didn't need to make a whole thread, but I am excited, nervous , and scared. :spinning::spinning:

Congrats! Welcome to the other side! :sekret: When do you plan on doing the BC?
Good luck on your new journey!

Good luck on your journey! I'm sure you will enjoy having natural hair and it will be a liberating experience. I, too, plan on taking the plunge...someday.

Congrats! I understand how you feel. The decision was that deep for me too. I share the same exact feelings as you. I'm more excited than anything else though. Seems like a lot of ladies are choosing to transition right now. We need to start a New Transitioners Support Thread...

I can see it a few years down the line...our siggys will say "Transitioned Spring 09 - Fall 11"...

BTW, what made you decide to do it?

Yay! Another one! Girl, you have good will power. In less than 2 years of being a member, I gave into the temptation. I tried to fight it but "it just kept callin me man!":lachen: LOL. Happy Transitioning miss!

Congrats in your decision to go natural. Just be focused on your reason for going natural because in the beginning when the going gets tough, the temptation can be strong to relax. Hang in there and you will realize your goal.

yay!!! just do it and don't look back! There will be times in the begining where you want to quit, you have to deprogram your thinking and stick with it. Yay! I am happy for you yet sadden that it takes long contemplation for us as black women to be exactly how God made us.
Good luck!!!

Congratulations on your decision. I pray that you find like many of us did that something more grows than just your hair. Not sure why, but it does seem to work that way...

Happy and health hair growing to you. Let us know when you intend to BC so we can support!!!

Blessings,
cj

Good for you! I agree that going natural does take some true soul searching, at least it did for me. I am sure you will have amazing success during your transition and once you are fully natural. Congratulations on your decision.

Congrats girl! You've made a great decision. Not that I can really talk, just made the decision myself last month, but it's already a liberating experience.

Alot of factors. . . My hair is okay, but it's not as healthy as I know it can be. I've been going to the styist every two weeks for YEARS, and my hair is exactly the same length. Whenever I asked my stlylist to stretch my relaxer she makes a big deal about it. My edges were starting to thin and I am on this whole if you want new results--do something different. Add all of that, and the fact that I've moved to using 100% natural skin and hair products--- to still put a relaxer is my hair just didn't make sense.

Lately, when I go out and I see women with beautiful hair, I've been asking them how they care for their hair----I want to say that most of them made it a point to tell me they were natural.

So that, plus seeing so many women here go natural has been an inspiration.

Good luck to you on your transition. You're in the perfect place to get support. :)

Great choice. i feel ya on the soul searching. It's a challenge with humidity and moisture making my hair revert, but i'm happy with my decision. just hoping to endure. i'm transitioning. i just got a compliment on my bunned hair. just a simple bun. my hair had gotten to the point where no one complimented me anymore.

my hair was gorgeous, i'd get compliments all day, every day. that's how i know it was time for me to transition, my relaxed hair had been through the ringer.....

For sure, nervous and scared are the first thoughts but you'll be happy eventually with your decision. Transitioning is for real but once you discover the "lovely" of it, you'll be thrilled. I have not used heat, flat-ironed, blown it dry or anything other than braids, twists, wigs although the thought has been in my mind at times. The options are always available to you, so go for it! I really like my natural texture a lot.

Congrats!!!!!!
I'm transitioning tooo..
I decide to take the big step
to natural..when I was bored of perms/relaxers

I was wondering
how long will you transition for?

Congratulations on your decision, I know it's not an easy one to make... I am a fellow new transitioner...
I am 12 weeks post and my fotki is in my siggy. I'm not sure if I can last more than one year, I think I'll BC when I have 3-4 inches of new growth.

OT, but you look so pretty with your natural hair. anything else takes away from your face.

Great choice. It might be rough in the beginning but you'll grow to really love your hair in it's natural state. And there are so many options you will have once you have natural hair, you can go straight, curly, twisted, afro, braids, etc.

Best,
Almond Eyes
