i would like my edges to lay flat all the time yet not be gelled down. is there a way to train hair to sit a certain way like a permanent part? are permanent parts real too or it is just a saying?erplexed
I believe permenant parts are real because I have one. For years I always parted my hair above my right eyelid and because of that when I wash my hair, it automatically falls to my left side. I dont know if I explained it right. If I were to take my hair down and just make it messy by shaking my hair back and forth, when I stop, my hair in the front would lay to the left side and yes the part would be visible. Weird!!!
Yes there is such thing as a permanent part. I used to always part my hair in a certain place too, and now it always parts itself like that naturally without me parting it. I think you can train hair to lay a certain way. I think if you just keep styling it that way, it will eventually do it itself (with some limitations).
I know friends used to always tell me I needed to "train" my hair. I think it is true even though it sounds dumb. If you wrap your hair in one direction all of the time (EVEN THOUGH THIS IS BAD) no matter what you do to it, it will fall back into the way you wrap it all the time. If you part your hair in a certain way 24/7 eventually your hair will do this also
My cousin wears weaves 100% of the time, and she leaves the perimeter around her hair out. She then covers this with a headband, ALWAYS. With that, if she were to take it off, wash it then edges would lay down with minimal need to lay them down. I would guess/suggest that if that's what you want, you should tie your edges down at least 80-90% of the time to get your edges used to laying down
