Isnt an Oil Rinse simply a prepoo??

Sorry if I sound silly but it sounds to me that an oil rinse is a prepoo with oil instead. Am I missing a point or some vital step?

All help would be appreciated :)

Not exactly. It's really a hot oil treatment without the poo'g. For oil rinses, I don't poo before or after. I actually, only shampoo my hair once every 4-6 weeks.

Here's a typical pre-poo:

oil on dry hair overnight
shampoo in the morning

(like Ojon or V05 says on their bottle)

An oil rinse consists of:

wet hair (usually I'm rinsing out a DC on dry hair w/ heat)
apply oil
rinse with hot/warm water
apply conditioner
rinse with cold/cool water

Again, there's no poo'g so it's not really a prepoo. I don't leave the oil for more than few seconds (no overnighting it), I always use conditioner to help get some of the oil out (otherwise I leave Soul Glo stains). :lachen:

the thought behind it is...

by using the oil on wet hair you use less oil, because the water helps to lubricate, distribute the oil and detangle the hair.
by using hot water, more of the oil is absorbed by the hair and less remains on the surface
by using conditioner, some of the oil is washed away, again keeping the hair from being too oily
by rinsing with cold/cool water you close the cuticle trapping the conditioner and oil inside (where it stays for days for me)
