Hey I just started using HE LTR leave in, and for the first time today just looked at the ingredients

Ingredients: Water, Stearyl alcohol, cyclopentasiloxane, cetyl alcohol, stearamidopropyl dimethylmaine, rubus idaeus (raspberry) juice, hydrolyzed silk, dimethicone, glutamic acid, fragrance/parfum, benzyl alcohol, citric acid, sodium chloride, EDTA, propylene glycol, DMDM hydantoin, Red 33

that is three alcohol components and propylene glycol which i believe is antifreeze, similar to alcohol (but in oxidized form)

So do you guys think these are good ingredients, I dont know if i can continue to buy it for this reason

I had to stop using this product bc it gave me too much buildup. If I'm not mistaken those alcohols are the good alcohols.

Ok then, i think i am going to continue using it, but in small quantities to avoid the build up, still searching for my staple leave-in

Just because something has alcohol in the name doesn't mean it has the same properties as other alcohols. All alcohols don't have the same properties as the common rubbing alcohol.

Those alcohols are "fatty alcohols"

They DO NO dry your hair out. They are lipids (fats, oils)

As for proplyene glycol... it is derived from petroleum, however... it has nearly no similarities to petroleum. It is also an alcohol. Like the other alcohols listed above, it is not drying. It's very moisturizing and a pretty hood humectant.

It has a wide variety of uses, not just antifreeze. It is even used in the food industry.

Most people shy away from it not because it's bad for your hair, but because they fear that it's a carcinogen. It's up to you whether you use it or not... I personally use products with it.

Try doing some research on the ingredients before you toss it...

A lot of people love the stuff :yep:

Good luck with your leave in search... I don't believe that the leave in you have is bad though... just depends how it works in your hair.
