Hello! I'm newbie!! I finally decided to join. I have been stalking this forum since April and I want to thank you ladies for all the helpful information you post. Thanks to this forum, I am slowly learning how to take care of my 4B coily, fine tresses, and hopefully grow a healthy head of hair. I have been natural for almost 2 years in December, and of course like many others I didn't know how to really take care of my hair so I don't have much to show as far as growth. I decided to go natural because I was tired of my hair growing and then breaking between relaxers (mainly cuz I didn't know how to take care of it after the relaxer), I also developed psoriasis on my scalp which causes lots of scaling and itchy scalp. I finally have medicines that help with the problem. And thanks to this forum in April I discovered bunning, cowashing, and lots of other healthy things to do to help grow my hair. The biggest help that thus far is no heat. I have been in my own personal no heat challenge since Apr. I started bunning in late Apr, and taking Hair infinity vitamins in Mar, and I can say between no heat, bunning, and taking vitamins when I flat ironed my hair for my graduation in May I noticed my hair was alot thicker and had grown. I am very pleased and look forward to learning more healthy practices for my hair.

Alsooooo I have become quiet the product junkie since joining the forum :nono:, but I just can't help myself but God knows I need to. Anyway, I purchased Hairveda Whipped ends and I was very disappointed because it wasn't thick enough to moisturize my hair but I do use it for my ends. I love the deep conditioner though and the green tea buter works wonders for my daughter's hair. I also ordered some stuff from Shescentit and the smell is there but they didn't do too much fa my hair. I also ordered WEN (yall I know my PJ's are bad) I tried it on Monday for my cowash day and it was okay I'm not thrilled with it but I gonna keep trying. Maybe i'm not seeing the benefits cuz all the things it offers requires you to use heat to see such as shine, bouncy, and etc. I don't know bout this one, but I will keep yall posted. I just received my Darcy botanical order today and it smells so good and she gave me two oil samples how cool is that:yep:. I applied them tonight and will see the results in the morning. I still love my burdock root cream and the balm, but I'm just still trying to find dat holy grail..I also ordered the ayurvedic scalp cream from beauty4ashes, hope to have that tomorrow. It's fun looking for different products. Ohh and I did get some MTG and have been using it for a week now. I don't think it smells that bad, but I apply it at night so the smell will be faint by the morning and for the most part it is.. I do have a question though, my hair is growing there is no doubt about that I can tell, but it seems the longer it gets the more shrinkage I have. I really want to stop using combs, but I just don't see that happening with all the shrinkage I get after a wash. My hair tangles so much on the ends, they like wrap around each other and causes some single strand knots. Any advice from other 4Bs that might have this problem. Any better ways to get it to straighten a little without heat, and with out making my ponytail extra tight in order to keep it flat. It seems as it grows it's growing out instead of down very irritating..

:welcome4::newbie: You may want to try some "stretched" styles like wearing your hair in braids, twists, braid/twistouts to see if that helps with the tangles and SSKs. What do you use to detangle your hair? You may want to try oil rinses and detangling with a shower comb when hair is wet and full of conditioner.

Thank you for your response. Usually I cowash twice a week, and I detangle when my hair drenched in conditioner with my shower comb and then let the water run through while I rinse the condish out and put my hair in a ponytail holder to keep each side detangled and somewhat straight.

I found a good method to loosen my 4b-z strands is to set them on large perm rods after my wash and conditioner sessions and let them dry under the dryer little and overnight so then the curls are not so tight and easier to put in a ponytail.

Thanks CA*Nappy, I will have to try that. I just did my wash for the week so I'm definitely gonna try this on my next wash day. Is this really time consuming though?
