I think that I want to start flatironing my roots twice a week after washing and conditioning and air drying my hair. My hair has gotten so thick that I a just 6 weeks after a touch up it's trying to channel all the big haired women of the 80's. I just want to cut down on the puffiness. Do you think this will slow my growth process if I just do the roots and leave the length and ends alone?

I used to do this and it worked out okay, but I have been heat free for a month and I really feel like my hair has thrived during that time period.

I have only used heat 4 times in the 5 months and my ends and hair have loved it. That's why I am kind of nervous about doing this. However, I do want to continue to look professional at work and somedays with all humidity in NC, my hair just looks puffy, big, and bad.

I have been rollerseting and flatironing my roots twice a month and I havent had any setbacks. I started this last month, before I was flatironing once a month from root to tip and that really didnt do damage either. I do dust every two months VERY slightly.hth;)

Thanks. I'll start out slow. If I see any damage, the flat iron goes back into the drawer.
