I airdry to like 80% then blowdry,

BUT.. My question is..

what do you use on your hair so that when youre done drying and you flatiron that you have shine , moisture and some "swang"

I use a leave-in conditioner (Biolage Leave In Tonic) and Aveda Brilliant Emollient Emollient Finishing Gloss on wet hair before blow drying. It's worked pretty well for me. In fact, using the Finishing Gloss on my hair while wet has also helped with preventing my hair from reverting in the summer humidity. I tried the Giovanni Direct Leave-In, but it leaves my hair soft but pretty stiff.

I use very tiny amounts of Fantasia heat protectant serum and Aveda elixir before I blow-dry. That's it. I don't put anything in after I blow-dry or flat-iron. My hair stays swinging until I wash it again.

No Leave in??

same here. I do a leave-in and then a serum before drying, and don't reapply anything in between.

This woman in the mall who sells those expensive flat irons told me that that she could tell I spent good money for my flat iron or my hair won't be so straight and shiny.
I very kindly informed her that I use a cheapy conair ceramic flat iron and I use it on setting 1. She was speechless.

I use Redken Heat Glide (after my leave in). That is the best thing I have tried when flat ironing. It leaves my hair soft, smooth and smelling good.

Yeah, my hair turned out okay ..

Um I airdried with MnT Cond and some serum..

then I blowdried my roots and when I was done I put a little more serum on each section and some heat protectant spray, it looked real good but my ends were dastardly , so I put some Keracare Oil Moist w/ jojoba on my ends and Imma take the wrap down in an hour or so to see how it looks...

Wow! I never really paid any attention to what brand it was because I know I'm not spending more than $30 on a flat-iron so I don't even bother.
I see them in the mall straightening everybody's hair with the same iron and then they want you to come test it out. No thank you!

I do agree that the cheapie ones are just as good. I used to use a ceramic Revlon one that I bought from Target fro $20. It was great.

my only problem was that over time, the ceramic part started peeling. I had to buy another one. My FHI has never has that happen over the same amount of time. It has lasted longer for me. So really, for me at least, the more expensive more has just proven to be more cost effective. the results are not that much different, though.
