This weekend I went and got my twists done on 10/2 (Friday) in North Dallas area (Carrollton). I brought my own hair being Marley II kinky twist brand in 1 Black a total of 3 double packs. Yes I needed all of it - My twin says I have a big head. I beg to differ. I just have short thick hair.

I paid $70 and well worth it to. I thought it would HURT!!! I'm tender headed and I definitely didn't want an african braider as they have no regards for pain and braid way tooooo tight for my good. The stylist was African-american or just black and definitely braided as if she knew all about Crown and Glory method. Secured but not over tight. I have no bumps or folding skin. I was able to sleep like a baby. :yep:

I think I found a keeper. I plan to next get a sew-in but I want to wear these for 6 to 8 weeks while following the C & G method.

Never did I think I would find a good braider.

Nice. I always wondered what long kinky twists would look like.
Lucky you to find a good braider! I wish I could find one....even my sis braids too tight.

They look pretty! Do you mind pming me her info? I'm in desperate need of a protective style for the rest of the year. My tree braider is booked solid until Thanksgiving.

They look really nice!

Hmm..I just did twists with my own hair...how hard do you think it would be to go back and just add hair since it's already been sectioned? I've never done any sort of extensions myself - so lord knows how it would come out...

I don't want to wear extensions anymore (kinda in love with my own hair) but I think it might be best for long term health with the dry winter coming up.

You found a great braider, knew what she was doing and was reasonably priced!!!!

You need to blast her info to the rafters! Those the few and far between.

Just a thought, you could just use your hair as the third part of the inital braid and then take the ends out to use in the twist. or you could just untwist and rebraid/twist as you go. I just put a whole bunch of braids in my hair as prep for doing my own braids. I am nervous about using the braid as is, I don't want them to lock.

I like the idea of braiding/twisting my own hair then doing extensions. the sectioning off always takes the longest.

Hmm..I braided the roots of my twists b/c it helps them stay neater longer, and I think the hair would stay better if I braided the extention hair in before starting the twist...maybe untwist to the braided part, then braid a few more stitches with the extension before twisting?

It would probably be best to not blow dry before hand though, b/c my hair texture would blend better while kinky, right?

this is how i do my sister's hair because she has so much of it...day 1 i wash/DC/section and two strand twist...day 2 i go back and add in the kanekalon or kinky hair.

you'd prorbably want to attach the extension hair from the roots and not from the bottom of that hair you have braided. don't blow dry, otherwise your hair will draw up when you cowash (or at least my sister's did).

Very pretty!!

Can you wash your hair?

yes i can wash my hair. my first schedule wash day will be probably the middle of next week with diluted elucence shampoo or diluted green CON shampoo followed with diluted deep conditioner or light conditioner

no i wasn't joking. in chicago if you want micros you typically go to an african braid shop even here in dallas my aunts have the same experience with africans but they aren't the only ones who braid tight as any race can. This was just based on my experience and those around me. that's all it wasn't meant to offend anyone.:look:

She's located in Carrollton, TX her name is Miss T her phone number is 972- 820-9151. Sometimes she will ask how you knew of her just say Twin and she will know. She also does quick weaves, sew-ins, micros and more. All of her prices are reasonable.

They look nice... I have been trying to find someone that does them neat and long in my area for a decent price but no luck so far.. On to a sew-in..

WOW! It's a good thing I don't get offended quickly. My in-laws are African and I know alot Africans that don't braid too tight. Way to sterotype.
