HEY GUYS, IM NEW HERE AND LOVE THE WEBSITE SO MUCH....WELL I GOT A RELAXER ON AUGUST 23,2003...AND IT IS NOW OF COURSE OCTOBER AND SOON TO BE ENDIND. ITHINK I HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF NEW GROWTH, BUT DO U ALL WHO HAVE TYPE 3C-4A OR ANY TYPE OF HAIR MEASURE YOUR NEW GROWTH BY STRAIGHTENING IT, OR MEASURE THE CURLS...THANKS

You can measure the entire length from front of hairline to ends or you can measure the wavy/curly newgrowth.

Ditto. To answer your question, though, I'm a natural 4a and I always measure my new growth while it's straight. That's the only way to get an accurate reading of how many inches your getting a month. Otherwise, with the shrinkage factor, in a month where you got a half inch straightened could really look like 1/4 or 1/3 of an inch when curly.

I agree.I stretch my hair to measure new growth for the same reason
