Okay so I'm going crazy here. How can I apply growth aids if when I aplly it to my hairline, broken hair is coming off? I thicken my edges but how can stop the breakage. I need something that can moisturize and strengthen but that doesn't leave too much build up (the areas are thinning already). Any suggestions ladies?

It's driving me crazy that my hair is steadily growing so well, but my edges are suffering.

I don't understand why your edges are breaking. How are you styling your hair? What growth aids are you using? How is it breaking, the ends so it's shorter or breaking at the base? You need to give more info about your regimen otherwise I doubt we'd know where to start with giving you advice.

I have a similar problem! When I put products on my nape and edges, I see a lot of little baby hairs coming off on my fingers because of rubbing on the product! They aren't broken hairs, they look like they were trying to grow and I pulled them out from the root! :nono:

I am having the same problem. My edges seem to be getting thicker but shorter since using OCT/MT. I dont know if it is my imagination. I also cut off my relaxed hair a couple months ago so I dont know if my hair being in a natural state is affecting how it looks- the kinks making it appear shorter than before?

When I wash my hair (usually once a week or once every two weeks), I wear my hair down for two days then I wear loose updos for the rest of the week. I moisturize my hair twice a day especially the edges, nape area, and behind my ears because those areas get dry out quickly. I deep condition every time I wash (light protein followed by Humecto). The rest of my hair is in great condition, even my stylist bragged to some of the other stylists about my hair. It's just my edges and behind my ears that I'm having problems with. My nape has been improving.

I usually use UBH Dew Spray all over my hair followed by some kind of oil. I use Avo'Coco Creme or Avo'Coco Lotion to moisturize my edges, behind my ears, and my nape followed by WGO. I've been using BT off and on and recently a mix of Aloe Vera, Shikakai Oil, and Honeyquat on edges. I've use MTG too before but I had the same problem. I would apply moisturizer and then the growth aid, but then I would see the broken pieces of hair. My edges have been steadily thinnning.

My front hairline and mainly my temples are thinning and breaking as well. this is a recent thing since i've been using a no-lye relaxer. My stylist dont spend too much time rinsing the relaxer out of my front hairline and i notice it tends to break immediately after a fresh relaxer, which is why i think the relaxer is the culprit. i didnt have this problem when he was using a lye relaxer, it just started 8mos ago when he switched to no-lye.

sorry, no advice here. just wanted to say i feel ya pain!

Girl! I feel yoyr pain. I just had some major breakage in my nape area after a 15 wk stretch and it is quite depressing. However, I am trying to be positive and working to correct the damage!

U might wanna try just pressing oil or moisturizer gently into ur edges or nape and not massaging them. That's a tip i learned from someone else on here. Massaging works when u already have some hair there but if ur trying to regrow hair and ur hairline is fragile u have to be gentle. Massaging may be too much stimulation.

I just apply my Nioxin, gently swipe it in each area and then seal with an oil. No massaging or anything. And its worked for me!!

Maybe those areas cannot handle a relaxer?
Or those areas should be processed for the last for example right before washing the relaxer out. During my transition I went to get my hair cornrowed and the stylist noticed my sides were a tad bit thin and she asked me about my relaxing process I told her it was basically the front to back edges were done first. She was like "that is all wrong your edges should be processed lastly almost right before washing out the relaxer."
