Well ladies, I decided that my hair was finally long enough to try a braid out. I must admit that I didnt think that I would like it but WOW

. I am SO glad that I now have another heat-free styling option. I cant cornrow my own hair, plus I thought it would shrink up too much...so I just did three plaits - - one on each side and one in the back. I misted my hair w/ distilled water, braided, put a roller on the end of each braid for about three hours, removed the rollers, wrapped w/ satin scarf and went to bed. When I unbraided the next am, the waves were very tight. I shook my head like a dog and ruffled the waves w/ my hands. Then I went to the gym and jogged on the treadmill for about 25 minutes. I perspired in my head a bit and this helped the waves to relax somewhat. When I got home, I shook my head again and the end result was adorable. I got compliments (and some stares

) all day. Thank you ladies! This is a great alternative to the phonytail bun because I was concerned about breakage from the ponytail holder. This style should be good when I have lots of new growth too...the messier the better IMO when it comes to this lokk.

That's great Lunalight. I think I may finally give it a shot. I've been thinking it about it alot recently but have been a bit apprehehnsive cause I've never done one. I'm gonna try it soon now though. Thanks for posting and glad you're loving your new do

Your hair would look great with it!

Personally, I prefer twist-outs; I don't like a very crinkly look, and the twistout gives waves instead of crinkles. Let us know the results if you decide to do it.

Oh, and congratulations on your successful braid-out, Lunalight!!

I guess I'm bored at the moment. I washed my hair last nigt and put in a ponytail to dry. It was still a lil damp this morning, so I sectioned it in 4, sprayed some leave-in, a lil moisturiser and JOILA! Here I am waiting to see how this will turn out

Glad your hair turn out great ladies I will have to try this
soon I am getting tired of wearing phonytails.
I have shoulder length hair will the braid out work for me.

My hair is barely shoulderlength and w/ the braidout, it is slightly above my ears on one side. The side w/ the shoulderlength "tail" comes to about chin length. with the highlights and all, it looks cute.

Armyqt, Im so glad to have inspired you...Welcome to the braidout club!! Im gonna try a twistout next week...

Lunalight and Armyqt I'm going to try a braidout today. I was going to roller set but I feel too lazy!

Definitely make sure that the braids are completely dry. I tried to do it again last nite and because I was in hurry, I tooks the braids out too soon. The result was a wack lookin' curly afro thing...oh well...live and learn. I poppoed on my phonypony bun!

Is the twist out a set of flat twists...like stuck to your head like cornrows, or two-strand hanging twists? I wanna try it...
