My Hair Texture

Hello Ladies
I've got a problem with my hair texture. I can't tell how much new growth I have because it feels like the relaxed hair!

It's not supposed to be doing this. My mother said it grows straight and then waves out toward the end. Well I see very little waves, except in the back(nape area) were it's a mixture of 2C and 3's. Am I a 1 hair type or something? Someone help me out please before i start spazzing out.

Well if you are a 2c then your mom may be right. It may not start waving or anything until its an inch or two long. My cousin has 2c hair (natural) and her waves start 2 inches from her scalp. You can start measuring weekly or monthly if you are not sure but I wouldn't worry about it just yet.
Stress can slow your hair growth so just relax for now and see how it is looking in a couple of weeks.
