Hey my LHCF (family)

I get so much insight and great advice from the ladies here on the forum, that I am wondering how I made it without you guys for so long. Here is my dilemma not really sure whether I should chop my ends off or not, I have about 4 inches of perm left, and my new growth is out of control... i am not complaining, I love it, but it is hard to see what my natural hair will really look like with these lifeless permed ends hanging on. My hair is very thick and full, but it hard to blend the two textures together. Is there any purpose for holding on to the thin permed ends or just cut them off altogether. I did wantto keep a little length, but I am getting to the point where I just want to rock my natural hair. I am currently rocking the mohawk look and I use olive oil to seal and condition but it still looks so dry. What are your suggestions??

I always caution people to only cut when they are ready...and only you know when you are ready. From your post, it sounds like you are ready...but don't base your decision on me (or anyone else) b/c you have to make the decision, accept it, look at it and maintain it...not to mention LOVE it!

Also, you are ROCKING that mohawk!

Sounds like you are sick of the relaxed ends, I say cut them.

My question is why are you holding on to them? What purpose do they serve?

Your hair is lovely. The only reason that I can think of to hang on to the ends is length. It seems like you've already made up your mind.

Are you just using olive oil? Maybe you could use a moisturizer and then seal with olive oil. Also, remember that your natural hair is not going to necessarily "shine" like your relaxed hair did. Does it also feel dry?

You hair looks too cute in those pictures. If you feel like it's time to cut off the relaxed ends, then I would say it's time to get the scissors. For me, I get the sudden urge to cut and all I can do is think about cutting my hair, that's how I know/knew it was time to get rid of the relaxer.

I agree with the other poster who said it sounds like you're too-through with those relaxed ends and are ready to fly.

If you know how to style hair (and you should since you've been transitioning) than I'd say you're good to go with the BC.

Go for it! I think you'll be extremely happy!!

Yor are right, I guess I am looking for that shine like relaxers shine but I have seen some nice shine with naturals also, now that i think about it. I use olive oil and coconut oil (Vatika brand as well). It does not neceassarily "feel" dry to me. I am just holding on for the length. I am a bit insecure about my swan neck :ohwell:

I'm scuuuuuuuuuuured, but I think I will go for it.

congrats on your transition - your hair looks great!

I agree with the posters that said only you relaly know when you're ready. It's better to deal with the frustration a little longer and be sure than to jump the gun and then relax or something out of remorse. Been there, done that.

Whatever you decide just keep up your techniques and reggie to keep your hair happy in the mean time. :yep:

First, a long neck is very elegant...you could be stuck with no neck syndrome, like I have. :lachen:

Second, I can only speak for myself, but my hair will look shiny when taking pictures because of the flash. However in real life, it will have just a dull to medium sheen. I didn't know if you meant naturals in real life or online, but I just thought I'd throw that out there.

Wow, your hairstyle is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I love it!

You will know when you are ready, you are probably still holding on to the relaxed ends for length (which I'm familiar with). I am 10 months into my transition and as much as I love my new growth, my natural hair is nowhere near a length I'd be okay with.

Whatever you decide, please let us know...

HHG!!!!!

Shine is so overrated! I say cut it off BUT maybe set a date in the future (2 weeks from now for example) and see how you feel then. Or cut 2 inches and see how it looks. If you're scared you might not be ready yet.

Beautiful frohawk btw! Gorgeous!
