My Steamer SQUEAKS!!

Hi Ladies,

I REALLY REALLY hope someone can help me. I tried searching this topic but found nada, so here goes:

It used to be that my steamer would make a loud squeaking/squawking noise when the water was low or the time was up. Now, it does it like 5 minutes in. :nono: FYI, I have the steamer from salonrus (the cheaper one that can take tap water) and it's probably just about 3 months old. I also notice that it's leaking a good amount from around the place that the water container locks into, from the black vent-like area...hopefully that makes sense. Could that be the culprit? I've lifted the top part (the part where the hood is and where water container goes) off a couple times and made sure everything was attached securely. I'm not sure what else to do. I'd hate to have to send it back (crazy shipping costs!), but if I can't steam for more than a few minutes without a blaring fire-detector-type noise, then what else can I do...

Thanks in advance...and hopefully happy future steaming!

Not sure, I would just place an inquiry to salonrus to see if they can recommend things you could do or check yourself before sending back. Just a suggestion...

IDK but that would be annoying. If its one long squeak then maybe I could deal but if they were short quick squeaks, like squeak-squeak..squeak-squeak it would remind me of a mouse and then I would freakin flip-out and beat my steamer with a bat.

ETA: the above wasn't helpful but Good luck. :yep:

Mine used to have the same problem then one day I just decided to let it squeak and then it stop and it has't done that ever since. i have mine since may. Try to let it squeak until it stop squeaking for the duration of the steaming treatment.

Thanks y'all! aymone I'm gonna try your solution tonight or tomorrow. If that fails, I'll definitely be getting in touch with the company.

If there are any more suggestions, feel free to pass them my way!

Probably mineral buildup. You need to read the instructions on cleaning it out. I'm not sure you can use vinegar but you might.

bumping!
I have the same steamer and when It squeaks I adjust the water/salt levels. Has anyone found a consistent solution for this problem?
