Just wondering. I think this is always why I have to do such aggressive trims because of the knots and the frequesnt WNG's that I do. I dont do anyother style :nono: When I was getting my hair trimmed he could barely bring the comb through the last inch of my hair because of them:perplexed So I was wondering if heat every 2 weeks was the way to go to minimize them. Do you think its a good idea?

I tend not to wear wash and go styles because my hair gets really tangled, particularly the back. Instead, I roller set in winter and alternate between roller sets and twist outs in warmer weather. Both styles are tangle-free.

After I started to straighten my hair regularly with roller sets I noticed a significant decrease in the number or single strand knots and split ends I had. But after a couple days my roller sets would start to revert and I would get tangles again, now I flat iron to keep my hair straight and it is pretty much tangle-free.

I don't straighten often but I have noticed a few throughout my hair when it was straightened. It seems like that's the only time I really see them. The strand usually breaks off at the knot bc my hair is so thin. :ohwell:

When I wear my hair in fro puffs or half up and out fros I always get the knots:ohwell: When my ends are protected in my buns and french rolls I don't have this problem.

When I flat iron, I never get them but then I have to be super careful with the heat.

This hasnt happen with me but I fear that it will break so I just opt for a trim. But I realize that if I really want to start making progress I have to stop doing this. If I even see one split end it makes me want to trim my entire head:perplexed

I really need to try and start rollersetting. Im too lazy and dont have the patience to figure it out. But Im seeing this other thread about using mesh rollers, so maybe that will help

I was planning to rollerset and then flat iron after I take the rollers out. I really think that this will save my ends in the long run.

I just discovered the rollerset last week. I had straight hair for about 2 days and then I ended up with a stretched out 'fro. I was able to smooth my hair back into a nice, neat bun for the rest of the week. I was very pleased. This week I will sit under the drier. Last week I got good results with it just air drying. I had less tangles even when my hair reverted so this could be a very good thing!
