Natural to grow

Did anyone ever go natural to grow their hair out to relax it once it reached the desired length?

I heard alot of ppl try that but they can't endure caring for natural hair so they start relaxing at 1/3 to 1/2 the length but I've never actually known someone to stay with it to their desired length
