For the past 2 or 3 months, I have been straightening my hair on the regular to keep it detangled. I like wearing my hair natural but I either lose a heap of hair trying to detangle or walk around with it matted. The only solution I know is to wash daily but I don't want to walk around with a wet head all the time.

I've noticed some of you wear your hair natural most of the time. How do you keep your hair detangled at night?

When I wear my hair in its natural state, I detangle while its soaking wet I apply my EVCO and leave-in conditioner. Part into 8 sections and braid my hair into Pocahontas style braids and scarf it down before going to bed.

I wear my hair in twists daily so I don't have to worry about detangling or combing.

When I would wear my hair out, I would always braid it at night. That keeps hair from curling back on itself and makes it easier to comb in the AM.

Actually, I have never gone to bed without putting my hair in plaits after wearing it out.

I don't do anything to my hair at night when I wear it out, other than tie it up in a scarf. On wash days is when I do all of my combing/detangling etc...I make sure to moisturize very well during this time (as well as after), and always do a series of rinses to close the cuticle, and control frizz. This makes detangling a breeze, and helps maintain my braidouts without having to ever re braid or comb. I hope this helps somewhat.......

When I wear my hair natural I put it in two loose braids at night and it keeps the tangles under control.

I wondered with the ladies who wear their hair out and braid at night. Don't you lose the texture of your hair during the day? I mean when you braid at night, aren't you wearing a braid-out during the day?

or

Do you braid at night, and then do a WnG for morning?

Please explain

TIA

It's nothing like a braid out for me but I do loose a little bit of texture if I braid it with more tension (if that's the look I'm going for). Most of the time it's two really loose braids. In the morning I just unbraid and shake it out....maybe add a little leave-in condish if I want to plump the curls up more....I love the results. I had a video up on how I did it but I took it down. Here's a pic of how it comes out.....http://public.fotki.com/Pokahontas/2008/natural-curly-qs/september009.html

and here it is w/o me braiding it before http://public.fotki.com/Pokahontas/2008/wash-n-go/027.html
