OK. Hi everyone. I have had the hardest time with flex-rod rollers as I am sure other ladies have. I have searched the forum for articles on correctly using the rollers and consistently. Does anyone know of any links or pictures and/or articles that give detailed instructions and tips on doing this method?? Is there someone on the board who shows directions in their album>?? Tips? Also, what would be the best setting lotion to use and a good leave-in? Any suggestions? plEASE HELP.

THANX

ALSO. I have well over an inch of new growth. So, you can imagine the major drying i GET. Also, when doing the flexi-rod set do I need to comb the hair with a fine tooth comb to smooth the ends or is there another method of doing this? How do I keep the rollers secure without them falling because of my excessive new growth? To get a "full look" about how many rollers do I need to use? In which direction should I roll the rollers or what type of pattern? I always seem to get the front and sides done okay, but the back always look horrible. Any tips?? I know this is a lot of questions, but I am a broke college student and the salon is out!!

Hmmm...I wish I could help ya but I swore off my flexi-rods long time ago, lol...maybe one day when I have lots of time and patience I'll revisit them

Well I am natural but I used flexi rods all the time when I was transitiong. To secure them bend the ends in the opposite direction in which you rolled. If you rolled under, bend the ends upward to secure. I used Pantene relaxed and natural setting lotion and spritzed my hair with some wonder 8 oil. As far as fullness goes that is your preference. I don't know how long your hair is but my hair was a few inches past my shoulders. I used the largest size rods I could find (purple from sally's). I ended up using somewhere between 10-15 rods. Also remember that most people end up separating their curls, I did this as well, so you may not need to use more rollers to get the look you want. CincySweetie just had a thread on this, I will try to find it and bump it up for you. Lovelymissyoli had some excellent tips on how she did her sets.

Oh and I have pics in my album of my hair in the rods and after I took them out. Pw is in my profile.

Here is the link to the thread I mentioned above.
