Hi everyone, hair crisis!!! I trying to get my hair to grow longer and stronger .My hair is thin and when i relax it just sit on my head like a flat mop. I am making the change to go natural so my hair can be beautiful and healthy. Any tips on where to start?

Hi,
Probably start searching transitioning from relaxed to natural or big chop for those ladies who simply cut out all the relaxed hair.

Welcome CaramelSista!! I would recommend research transitioning and possibly begin with stretching your relaxers first. Maybe start with a light protein every few weeks and deep condition weekly. Your hair sounds extremely over processed and needs some TLC.

OK i will try this method, any product you recommend.

I like the Aphogee 2 min reconstructor to help strengthen the hair. I wouldn't start with the two step protein treatment since it can make your hair really hard as it dries. I'm not sure how your hair will react to protein so start light. When I look for conditioners I steer away from sulfates in the ingredients. I've been using the L'oreal Evercreme moisture conditioner. My hair loves it :) But if you currently have a deep conditioner that works try that on a weekly basis.

Welcome! :)

Im no expert but I my 2¢ would be to start protective styling your hair...styles that keep your ends hidden. Stretching relaxers, weekly reconstructors and daily moisture really helped me.

Organic root stimulator replenishing conditioner works well and smells great.

Hope I helped some :)

Welcome. Research Research Research before you do anything:) This has saved me so much money and time (I have spent a butt load too though). Make a journal ASAP (it can be paper or electronic) to track what you use, when you use it and how your hair responds). This will save you from buying products that have ingredients that do not work for your hair. HAVE LOTS OF FUN:)

Happy Hair Growing (HHG)

get a journal and start learning how to stretch your relaxer touchups. no more 4-6 weeks until you have enough new growth at least an inch. start deep conditioning. check out the Relaxed sticky thread on the first page of the hair board. tons of info on relaxed hair until you are ready to big chop or transition to natural.

gosh i have no idea where you'd even want to start. there's so much information on here. just wanted to say welcome!

Welcome to LHCF! And you've got some great advice already. Great job ladies. @Caramelsista your hair sounds like mine and my mom's hair- when I was relaxed.

But what products are you using? I agree that you may want to give aphogee-hard protein a try- assuming you haven't already done so. But the 'moisturizing' after or 2nd step conditioner never done nothing for my hair-idk still don't know why so....you may want to have a good trusty moisturizing conditioner on hand.

Suggestion: joico k-pac resonstructive conditioner(for protein- don't know if it's a light prot. or not, yeah I believe reconstruc. cond.'s are considered light)---and definitely journal your regimen and pay close attention to any changes in hair/scalp--- and the joico moisturizing (i think that's the name of it) conditioner is said to be a good follow-up. Goodluck to you and please let us know how things go for you.
