But here's a little history
kinda long but I love to share especially with my new friends)
At age five, I got my first perm at a hair salon and my hair feel out from about 9- 10 inches to 1 inch. My mom cried and then vowed to never let anyone get in my hair again. In high school my hair was fairly healthy but since I was a tomboy hair was not a priority. I would often blow dry my hair and flat iron my hair every Saturday and wrap and bump during the week. People would always play in my hair to see if I had tracks and say how pretty it was which seems funny to me since it wasn't long. My hair was an all around even just a below shoulder length until I begged my mom to give me a motion's perm on school night. It was on my hair no time when my mom rinsed it out because it was burning. Needlass to say the next day I skip school to get a short haircut a little bit longer than the famed halle berry cut(shaved and all). It's sad to say that I wasn't mad because I wanted mad because I wanted my hair cut short but my parents refused. (but not that short). During my first 2 years of college I wore cornrows on and off until I got some TOO tight that took my hair out. I then decided to keep my hair in a fairly short layered bob(about ear length) in early 2002 and cont. the cut until late 2002. By March of 2003 my hair was back like it was in high school when in April I opted for a deep reddish tone but when the beautician finished I had light reddish- medium blonde color all over. About I month later a friend informed my that my hair was literally gone so I decided to get braids and grow out my hair in May because I didn't know what else to do. In November 2003, I cut off all remnants of color. I wore micros until this summer but I never moisturised my braids but oiled occasionally. I am very ashamed but I must admit I didn't wash my hair in braids and rarely cleaned my scalp with astringent. So I probably washed every 2 1/2 - 3 months. When I took my braids out in May I had to cut off about 3 inches due to dry, split ends. Since I didn't know how to deal with natural hair, I applied Paul Mitchell The Detangler and Infusium after washing my hair and had a tangled mess.I blow dried my hair on high once a week for 2 months. At the end of the summer I got my hair pressed and my splits ends clipped and got micros for school, which I took out 2 weeks ago.My hair is currently 7- 7 1/2 inches long. This November I will have my 1 year natural anniversary.
Now I ready to take care of my natural 4a/4b hair by con washing twice a week, shampooing and deep coditioning once a week ,and clarifying once a month. I plan on using the baggie method and alternating with bradis with the crown and glory technique for 2 years. My ultimate goal is 1 inch below brastrap.
What do you think of the regime? I am open for suggestions
Thanks in advance to everyone who takes the time to read/post to this message. Also, thanks to Ms. Adrien for advice some time ago, she told me to find what works for me which I feel I have.
