Hi everyone!
Just a quick question. Are no base relaxers the same as lye relaxers or are they no lye?

Sodium Hydroxide (lye) relaxers are sold in base and no-base.

Base refers to when you coat the scalp with petroleum to create a barrier between the scalp and the relaxer to prevent scalp irritation.

Base formulas require the scalp to be based, where as no-base formulas already have a base cream mixed into the formula. However, you should still always base your scalp for added protection.
