No Longer Using Fotki

I just got tired of paying for it ...

Especially since you can upload pics directly to your favorite sites ...So I'm going to upload my pics here and on KISS and save that change !!!

Did anyone else get rid of their Fotki Album

I'm about to get rid of Fotki. Mine has been closed for a year, basically since they've made all the changes and I think that's why I haven't been updating. I'm just not sure where I wanna put photos yet. Well, I have a ton on Hairlista I wanna put them somewhere else, too!

I don't ever pay for my fotki, i just ask them to upgrade it in the my account tab. Its free and the upgrade to 50 mb every 30 days if you asked them too. So far , they have upgraded me to a total of 150 extra mbs

No, I have not got rid of it even though it has been almost a year since I last updated. I will update at least once before 2010 is out .

I always got the impression that once you subscribe you always had to pay otherwise your album got blocked as opposed to downgraded. You can add extra space every 30 days, therefore I never paid and I don't care about the ads because I use ad-block. The only downside is I cannot make my fotki private as they removed that feature for free users but non-Fotki members cannot view my albums anyway.

OP, given that you have a popular blog and make hair videos, I don't think it matters that much if you don't use Fotki any more. People who want to see your hair have a means to do so in other ways. I like the network of folks on Fotki and the regular viewers of my album.

I just renewed mine after a year...I have so many albums/pictures up (begining 2004 through 2009) the thought of completely getting rid of it (I have so many other non hair pics in there as well) or starting over somewhere else gave me a headache...I came close to it and decided against it for now, but I eventually think I will close it for good.

Tocktick, I think that is the case too as I've been a paid subscribers since either 2004 or 2005 and everytime my account expires, I HAVE to pay a renew to have it unblocked.

I have more storage space then I could ever use on Fotki and I don't really care about making it private so I will always use fotki if only just to store all the pictures I don't want to keep on my computer.

I store lots of pics in my private folder where no one can see them.

I've been a paid member probably since 2005 or 2006, before they have all the extra advanced unlimited features they have now and you HAD to pay to get a decent amount of storage lol...I'm not given the option of switching to use the newer free features as those with newer accounts than mine. Once my subscription runs out, my account is LOCKED until I give them a credit/debit card number lol lol.

With all of Fotki's virus issues, I just use Shutterfly now and I love it because it's free, has more options and helps better organize my pics. Not to mention that it comes with a free blog that has some great features that allows you to keep up with your hairsisters and attach your album to it too if you want.
I haven't finished setting mine up because I have one more stretch to go but I know Boing has one so check it out and you'll see what I mean!

I just use the free version of fotki...I refuse to pay 30 something dollars per year when LHCF is only $6...hmph!
