Okay, so I've been wondering this for awhile and I figured it would be no harm in asking. My understanding is that oil is used for sealing the hair after you've moisturized it (correct me if I'm wrong). Okay, I've also come to understand that oil locks moisture in, but at the same time, isn't it also locking moisture out?

That's why I don't understand putting oil in conditioner. Aren't you locking out everything that you apply after you've washed out the conditioner because the oil is left on the hairshaft? I'm not saying that this practice is good or bad, I just truely don't understand. Can someone please explain?? Thank you so much in advance.

I wash, DC, moisturize and seal with oil. I'm openminded, please explain, thanks again.

The only oils I add will penetrate the strands to differing extents, i.e. olive, coconut, wheat germ, avocado, etc. I would be concerned about using an oil that doesn't penetrate, but to each his own. HTH
