And it seems like its an older version. The relaxer they sent is in the pic below, it doesn't match the one on the DE site or the photo they used for the listing...It doesn't have an expiration date or anything and i called with the batch # and they weren't able to tell me anything about it age-wise. The DE rep also said that DE relaxers have a shelf life of 1-2 years... I'm scared to use it!

If anyone has seen this please let me know, because i may keep it and do a patch test. I have already contacted the ebay seller saying i'd like a refund because its not the relaxer container that was pictured... I dont think i'll be purchasing anymore hairproducts from ebay because there's just too much worry concerned.

It doesn't smell bad or anything... so im just confused:confused:

wow I would be scared to use it...so they pulled the old bait and switch...I would most definately be giving then a bad review.

I would presume that that container reflects the old labelling of Design Essentials products. Do you have a distributor in your area that you could ask about it? The one reason I would hesitate to use it is if something happens to your hair or you scalp, you would have little recourse from McBride Labs since you bought online without a license.

Man, this is tough!

. UPDATE: I emailed mcbride with the batch # and they let me know the relaxer is GOOD. It turns out this is their NEW packaging (even tho it looks more outdated IMO). So it is safe to use. BTW, this relaxer has a ph range from 13 thru 13.5 the funny thing is their super formula has the same ph. Their time release (would be considered their mild formulation) has a range from 12.5 thru 13. I plan on doing a strand test with the formula as packaged then tweaking it with oils to lessen the lye content if it seems too strong. I have fine hair that can't tolerate a strong relaxer. Hopefully I'll be able to report another DE success story soon!

PHEW!!! That's a relief, I hope you didn't jump the gun and give the ebay seller negative feedback. Can't wait to hear about your results!

I'm so glad it worked out. I was about to send you an apology note for pumping EBAY for DE relaxer purchases. I'm glad you found out info. on the Time release. I never knew why my stylist used it on me. I have fine strands so I'm glad I use this.

Keep us posted on your results.

Im happy everything wortked out well too!

Lusa: I waited and contacted the buyer, she got back to me within 24hours.. luckily McBride labs responded first and i ended up give her positive feedback. She did ship it out VERY quickly and was very polite the whole time.

Pmichael: i cant wait to try this out! I've heard such positive things about this relaxer and it seems the only reason ppl switch is because its not readily available

Yes, thats the seller... It was a very positive transction aside from my own self-induced scare!

Yep, I believe that's the one I recommended too. I have marked them as my favorite and will buy all of my DE products from them in the future.... shampoo, con, etc.

Well, if it's any consolation, they switched the lables up around 6 months ago. Although I don't use the relaxer, i use most of their other products faithfully and the last shmpoo that I bought had the old label. The HCO leave in however had the new lable. Also, the tub of Stimutations conditioner that I purchased also had the previous labeling.

Yeah the labeling has changed. I bought a small tube of the Stimulations conditioner at a salon here in Atl, and it's not white anymore, it's like a pewter color. (Hard to read the instructions on the back of it.) It looks like that Express Conditioner. But the logo is the same as on your pic of the relaxer.

*Off to go look at the ebay seller's products*

I noticed this too when I went to the salon in May, and on their website too. Picked up some HCO in the new gray bottle. It's a good thing Beana got an answer about her relaxer from McBride labs.
