Okay, who mentioned aloe vera gel + glycerin???

I don't remember who mentioned the aloe vera gel + glycerin mix and adding water. But I had been suffering from some dryness as of late, and was constantly just moisturizing so much to make it softer(cold here!). Well just spraying this once a day, keeps it so soft and moisturized. And I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!!

ooH! I've been doing this since last summer - it's the only thing that keeps my new growth moisturized and cuts down tangles when I do lo-mani. Glad that it works for you ( not that I'm taking credit!)

I'm using the FOTE (Fruit of the Earth) Aloe Vera Gel, I'm not sure if it matters or not. I do have a plant though, but haven't tried it with that yet. As for measurements, I just squeezed equal amounts of aloe vera gel and glycerin in an 8 oz bottle and added water to it and shook it up and went to spraying LOL. I'd say that 1/4 of the bottle is the mix and the remaining 3/4 is the water. HTH!

I use less water than she does, but I think it depends on your hair type. If you're natural and not worried about your hair reverting then it doesn't matter, if you relaxed or texlaxed and want to use this on the daily you may want less water so you can moisturize without ruining your style.


I use Lily of the Valley dietary grade Aloe Vera Gelly, I fill about 1/3 of the spary bottle with it, and then add equal amount of glycerine. I also add SAA sometimes, or infusium depending on my hair situation - I then fill what's left with filtered water, and top it off with some grapefruit EO for scent. You can add any EO you want, like rosemary, or peppermint depending on personal taste. I love this b/c I never worry about it clogging my scalp. For intense moisture, I spray this on, then cover with a dab of creamy leave in, and then seal with oil and put my hair up for the night. In the morning it's soft, shiny, and manageable.

Just used aloe vera juice mixed with glycerine. my oh my it is GREAT (but a bit sticky....i might add a bit of water next time).also covered with shower cap (baggying) but not for long (30 mins) coz my hair is not very dry. will have to see the results tomorrow. fingers crossed

I'm relaxed to and thinking of trying this? Does it matter if it's Aloe Vera Juice or Aloe Vera Gel? Because I've seen both but bought neither out of fear that they were the wrong ones lol.

Also, where the hecks do you find glycerin?

I think it is the aloe vera juice cause the gel would be hard to squirt thru a spray bottle. Glycerin can be found at some BSS. I put rose water with mine instead of regular water. It smells really good and it adds extra moisture.

i am relaxed. i bought aloe vera juice (99.7%) . was also thinking of getting the gel and mixing it with water coz it works out cheaper. but i will see how i feel bout this first.

i live in australia so unfortunately wouldnt be able to tell you where to buy from or which brand. but i can safely say u would have more variety in america than this side. my hair feels good. it is not sticky at all. i'm just going to put some leave in's today (elasta qp htwo) and seal with mix of coconut oil and castor oil and bun.

I have been using this for the past week cuz I am stretching my relaxer so I mixed upa batch, it's really good and moisturizing. I have a lot of new growth that I am trying to keep manageable. Also I have a dry patch at the crown that is unruly and this makes my hair soft and shiny. I use a lot of different ingredients to my concoction like rosewater, coconut oil, jojoba oil and silk amino acids or Chi silk infusion etc

this is the best thing that I have done for my hair and it is inexpensive

Well currently I still use this, and it'll always be a keeper for me, but I've also modified my original concoction to add some jojoba/olive/coconut oil to it also. And I'm still using the FOTE brand also.

Also a poster mentioned about the gel getting stuck in the spray bottle, and I thought of that too and decided to give it a shot anyways. It works for me, and I just use a regular spray bottle. I guess it just depends on how thick the gel is or maybe possibly how much of the gel you use in your mix.

Yep, just don't use too much V.Glycerin or it will make your hair sticky.

i boiled rosemary leaves and let it seep for hours in the water.....


i then used this to add as water to my mix.........nice variation!

I just made up a new batch; used aloe vera gel, glycerin, a little NTM Silk Touch, coconut oil and water. I've reached the point in my stretch where I'll be using nothing but this, and sealing the ends with Jane Carter Nourish and Shine.
