I AM SO FED UP OF RUNNING AFTER PEOPLE ESPECIALLY THOSE FREAKING BRAIDERS WHY ARENT THEY NEVER ON TIME AND RESPECT APPOINTMENTS .AGHHH I WANTED MY HAIR TO BE BRAIDED SO BADLY TO PROTECT IT AND STOP MESSING WITH MY IN BETWEEN STAGE. Sorry you've had such a bad experience! I understand how frustrating that must be. It look me forever to find someone to do my micros. Thankfully, my mother can braid normal individuals. May be you should ask someone close to you to learn/practice on you and then you can practice w/ them?

Oh I am so sorry you're going thru this. If you were close by, I'd hook ya up. But since I'm not, hopefully someone somewhere in your area will be able to help you out soon!

Oh I am so sorry you went through all of this just for some braids. If you gotta chase somebody down just let them go because you probably don't really want that type of person to braid your hair anyway. Just relax and try to find another style. There are so many other options than braids, don't box yourself in like that. And I'm sorry about what your mom said, I'm sure it either really hurt your feelings or made you really mad. It'll be okay, you are just having a bad day, tomorrow will be better, I promise.

Girl, let it out. ooh, i know how that can be. And that's why i had to learn how to do EVERYTHING myself

Well, like everyone else, I'm sorry this went so badly. Honestly you should be glad you found out she was shady beforehand...by this I mean before she got in your head. As for you mother, I know that's rough to hear, but it IS you head.

To be quite honest, your hair will probably thank you in the long run for avoiding many braid styles. I've seen you braided and it looked very nice, but there are alternatives which you can do yourself and will probably be easier on your hair.

Whatever you did w/ your hair in your pic above looks good and has less overall tension on your edges and nape.

That's messed up! I would have been mad, too. That's one reason why I never get my hair braided- it's hard to find a good braider without all the drama.

Your mom sounds like my mom (I'm relaxed, but she frowns all up whenever my hair is not perfectly done).

Yup it really bothers me to see how people can be shady because all the ladies that braided my hair im always more than honest . Although im not their friends that they would see on a daily basis I always manage to go the extra mile to thank them because I always treat good someone that takes time for my hair. I just think its ungrateful of them all of them because most of them wont bother to ask their day to day friends for something serious but know they can rely on me. The reason why I like braids is because I can get away from gel for a while and that is a product that im not able to avoid yet because my hair in the front is really not long enough to be tied in a bun so I sleek the hair down. But I feel ive harsh with my hair lately and wanted to leave it alone. Twists ..fingercoils..look really weird on me all those styles are cute but on me with my big ol forehead its a hellz to tha naw. My mom is just rough and that I learned that a long time ago instead of like telling me you know what come home ill cornrow your hair to give you a break or something to make me feel better.. shes like well perm yo nappy hair and than youll be able to style it. Its just the way she is and the way shes hardcore I love her and learned to deal with her ... I guess I was expecting recomfort but I guess it wont be happening. Plus everything at the same time just made me blow up!!! Im really not creative when it comes to style I really like it simple and low manipulation styles.

I know how it is..trust! Which is what prompted me to learn how to do my own damn braids. As of now, I don't know anyone who can or has braided my hair better than me :yep:

We'll all try to comfort you :huggle:. Try mixing some moisturing leave-ins and heavy oils with the gel, that may make it less harsh.

Yup I will try and see or maybe just run to the store tomorrow and get my IC fantasia gel because I ran out and I only have nasty gels filled with alcohol on hand . So ill guess ill go with that gel and sleek my hair everyday as I always do. Its a staple so maybe I should go back to it .

I learned to care for my full head of natural hair, super thick and long, when I was 9 years old. You CAN do it too. LOL...buy one of those vids about how to braid hair that shows up in the side banner here. If you need the link, I can post it, but you can learn. That way you can depend on you.

How long is your hair now? It might be pretty easy to learn to do the extensions, but I've never used them.

There's always YouTube w/ free vids of tutorials.

Have you ever tried the African girls on St-Hubert. I've never tried them but I've heard good praise about them...I don't know about the price but I am quite sure it is reasonable... one of my friend is their client and she's not the kind to spend too much money on hair :)

Are you talking about the salon or the store that sells hair and has like a ghetto salon in the back? Ive been to the African salon and they seemed very stubborn with their idea that they know whats the right size the braids should be when I noticed a lot of ladies with microscopic braids to the power of 10...n I hate with a deep passion small small braids (im very sensitive at the scalp). I didnt get a good vibe because the lady was talking with too muuch authority so I left quick.

Gosh I would of been so mad. I know how you feel. It was issues like this that made me learn how to do my own braids. I learned by watching two braid videos. One was free and is posted on Growafrohairlong.com and the other video cost me 19.99 Braids By Breslin. Now I save money and braid on my own schedule.

I'm sorry this all happened to you. I totally understand how you feel as this was my same experience when I used to get my hair braided years ago.

Doesn't seem like much has changed. I would show up for an appointment to find the person was not there or extremely late; or I would arrive and the person wanted to go get breakfast first while I sit and wait for them...geez.

yupppppp i think I will try to do it....I totally relate to the the ''im going to get breakfast first and wait 2 hours '' but yeah im really looking fwd to learn how to braid my own hair.

Dear Casarela,

I have been the queen of rocking the extension braids for many years even before they were popular. However, years of drama with hair braiders and realising that extension braids created more dryness in my hair plus my mother hating my extension braids, made me have the courage to take them out. I now do braidouts and I love them. Women accuse me of getting a mild relaxer or texturiser but its all about moisture, products and technique. I wish I had known this before because I would have saved myself so much money and the drama. It was hard at first to know how to keep my natural coils popping everyday and getting the right hairstyle. Now, that I have that under control, I don't think I would go back to extension braiding again unless it was for a special occasion. In fact, embarassingly enough even though people at my job always complimented me on my extension braids because of my signature hairstyle (mircos braided half way), they are now telling me that they prefer my natural hair because apparently, braids were too severe on my face and made my long face and very fine features too prominent. The braids made me look less approachable. Ouch. So, I feel you.

Best,
Almond Eyes

By the way, I also learnt to braid my hair. Learnt to do the micros but let me tell you, it took me three days to do one session years ago and almost five hours to remove them. Never again.

Best,
Almond Eyes
