I been lurking this forum for months and then i finally joined!
I can't seem to figure out whether I show stay Relaxed or texlax-ed or finally go all natural!
Currently, I my last full head perm was Nov 09' I am natural...I kinda been cheating a little. I now get perms only on my edges....But i stretch ALOT! 8-12 weeks.

I just don't know what to do, It seems natural is the way to go with the option of being curly or straight. But on the other hand, It could always be straight and sometimes wear a extremely loose texture....

WELCOME.

do what you feel is right for your hair, i was natural all my life untill last month when i finally texlaxed, and oh boy, i wish i had texlaxed sooner, i love it.

its all up to you.

also, being natural was work for me, single strand knots, shrinkage all that bull.... but it was pretty but work.

wooh im so happy i dont have to detangle any more

With texlax do you wear your hair curly often? like in a wet and go style?

its eigther wavy or curled. when i want it curl i put rollers in hair, no heat is needed. take the rollers out four hours later and my hair is curled.

for the wavy look, i do nothing. just leave it be and it waves up.

sorry about the big pics
this is my hair when i wake up in morning on most days

B]and this is my hair when i put rollers in[/B]

Since you wash more how to you keep your edges flat? dont they curl up?

Did you retain more length as a natural or being texlaxed?
I got pretty long relaxing but i had few bad relaxers and scissor happy stylists

my edges are kinky/curly, i never worry about them edges:lachen: i have too much other hair on my head that needs more attention, maybe i shouldnt put it like that lol. but them edges can do what they please:grin:

well since i still use all the same products as i did as a natural and i still use the same techniques my hair is retaining every inch that pumps out my lovely scalp:drunk::drunk:.

i love my hair too much to ever let a sylist touch it.

Take your time and explore your options for a few months here...you don't have to jump head first into anything....ask yourself how you most want your hair to be and go with it.

Also there are products and techniques to lay your edges down without relaxing them check out this thread: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=450124&highlight=

You're new, take it all in, get a solid regimen started and see where you want to go from there:yep:

AdoraAdora24: Did you know this time 2 years ago I used to be 2 and half inches away from BRASTRAPLENGTH!!! ARGG!! I falling so far, thats why i trying to change my ways.

Black Master Piece: Thanks for the advice! I know the natural route is not for the faint of heart!

I did invest in some curlformers so wash hair more often.....I think my plan of attack would be to start getting texlaxed but to also start wearing curly hair styles....I got a serious fatal attraction to straight hairstyles...Imma need to work on that XD

i was natural all of my life so, yess i knoww how to take care of natural hair, i got it to grow to MBL with really no problems. and i will still say: i dont ever want to be natural again. lol

natural hair is pretty and all but i just cant see myself sitting on the edge of my bed detangling for two hours watching some corny show to get me thru it, singe strand knots!! shrinkage!!!!!!<--sorry, gotta flash back, *calms back down*

dont get me wrong, i loved my natural hair, but im glad im texlaxed now, cuz now i have the best of both worlds, one day i can be curly, next day straight/straighter.

Detangling for two hours?!? What! And your hair isn't even all that kinky even if it was.....girl you was doin somethin wrong I'm sorry thats scandalous:lachen:

I have super tightly coily coarse type 4a/b hair that shrinks with the best of em and thorough detangle takes me 15 mins 20 mins max <---which is excessive for me. Plus I rarely have to detangle.

SOserious you have to find out how you would most like your hair to be just recognize that your hair can be easy going in any state...even natural.

Throughout that ordeal did you ever think to yourself maybe you should change your approach to detangling? Switch up the technique?

You're welcome, I think natural can be great for anyone that wants it...even the faint of heart....natural hair can be just as easy as any other kind of hair.

:yep:this is true, but in my case, i just got tired of it, all the combing. i posted this in other threads that i could not get a comb through my hair, when i was natural. thats why it would take sooooo long to detangles. i always wondered how other women did the comb chase method when flat ironing. i would think ":ohwell:comb chase? comb???, i guess i wont be flat ironing" lol my hair laughed at combs.

lol you know what BMP i should have been talking to you all along when i was natural:yep::yep:.

no i never thought to change my method. never! i just thought my hair was being mean to me, when it came to combs.

Yep you should've  my motto is "if your hair is unmanageable, that means you haven't learned to properly manage it yet"

You're happy with your hair as it is now so its all good.....but single strand knots and long detangling sessions can be eliminated with proper technique.

I have to detangle my tightly coily hair only a couple of times a year and it takes 15-20 minutes tops....ssk's are virtually nonexistent for me. Its all in proper knowlege and technique.....and trust my hair is 50x kinkier then yours.

Its all love hun;)

Ummm, detangling only 2x in a whole year, 15-20 min, and virtually no ssk??? I've never heard of anyone 1a-4z that only detangled twice a year and could get through it all within 15-20 minutes.

lol I didn't say two times a year I said a coupla times a year like maybe.....six since I like to rock more kinky looks in the hot weather:yep:

As for 15-20 minute detangling sessions....its the truth. It has to do with my technique.....I braid my hair in 9 braids wash and condition in those braids take one braid at a time down, saturate with slippy condish like nourishspa comb from ends to roots repeat for the other eight and I'm outta there. I'm gonna record my regimen soon including how I go about detangling:yep:

Most of the time I keep my hair suspended in a detangled state and I wash my hair in 8 or 9 braids (religiously)....my hair never gets a chance to curl on itself so there is no need whatsoever to detangle for months at a time.....and I almost never get ssk's. You can ask nonie she has essentially the same experience and she's a 4b.

It also helps that I straighten/use heat very often so that helps me not need to detangle very much as well.

With the right techniques natural hair can be the most low maintenance hair ever.
