Hi ladies

I really like wigs now that I figured them out alittle but my hubby hates them :(. He rather me walk around with busted twists and braids than wigs. I want to help him see the beauty of wigs:). What can I do to this wig to help it look better? How can I fix the non matching scalp on the top? Am I even wearing the dogon thing right?

dab some make up on the parting area and turn it on the wig stand to make sure it doesn't have a cone shaped.

If it is a little shiney a little corn starch or baby powder lightly on your hand and it will help with the shine.

Never wear the wigs like they look out if the package. It makes them look too wiggy.

The one you have on needs to be styled/played with a little. Paging JJamiah

ETA: Dang JJamiah you're fast.

Makeup:) Thanks for that tip. I will pick some cheap makeup from CVS.

When you say turn it are you talking about like a potter? I don't have a wig stand but I do have a head that I practice braiding on maybe that can work.

The Manniquan head sounds fine (I don't understand potter?) what do you mean, turn it inside out the wig, flip it to the net side and sit it with the hair down on the head. just turn it when your not wearing it, put a little of the make up on lightly. if it is too shiney do the do. (what I wrote to you in PM is good too) LOLOLOLOL :giggle:

@WhoIAm :lachen: You so silly LOL

As I was about to wisk away to CVS I realized that I have no clue what kind of makeup to get:) Are you talking about foundation or something waterproof? I am pretty clueless about makeup:)

LMBO I am up here looking like Casper the ghost... I am hitting this wig trying to get all this cornstarch off.

winona just some powder. something tht is your skin tone and a little brush to apply it would do. there are lots of tutorials on youtube too

Sorry I ran off to Wally's world. Just a powder is fine. There are quite a few tutorials on it as well. :)

Hi my tricks for making the wig look less "wiggy" is to wash it before I wear them. I always buy synthetic wigs. This is the only time I go against what the instructions say and wash with a harsh soap ie small amount of dawn dishwashing liquid or cheap shampoo I let it dry naturally and style from there. A very little trimming to make it fit me. Please be careful with this part

So I went to Walgreens and I swear I couldn't find any foundation powder. I even got the lady who works there to help me. I guess I will make a trip to CVS later:) Thank you all for your help:)

Try the muffinismylovers channel - she promotes wigs and has tons of advice. One of her fave tricks is to leave a little hair out in the front hairline and blend it into the wig. This works if you pick textures that are like yours. With the right match no one will know you're wearing a wig. I don't know what your own hair texture is like, but the wig pictured looks very silky straight. There's a lot of hair on the market today that's textured to mimic pressed or relaxed afro hair and it looks quite authentic. I mostly use human or protein hair, but I've seen people review wigs made from textured synthetic hair and they look pretty decent. If you go for wigs with a more natural texture your hubby might like them better - and/or he might not be able to tell at all, or at least not at first glance. :)

To give the wig you have on now a more natural flow, you could also cut some layers into the wig, and maybe snip the bangs carefully to make it look more realistic.

Re - makeup for the part a tiny dab of your regular foundation or concealer. You can even use brown toned eye shadow - you just need a very little bit. I apply it with the tip of a toothpick.
