For all of you who have a damaged area or areas throughout your hair, what are you doing to bring that area back to its healthiest state and what area is it that you’re dealing with? How long have you had this problem? Do you know what caused this area to decline?

My problem area is the crown of my head. It's very, very thin. I think it's stress related and relaxing doesn't help!! I go back and forth between going natural because of this problem. The area grows in thick because I stretch my relaxers but as soon as I relax it's super thin again. And then I'm stressed about it!! It's crazy!!! I'm going to go the texlax route the next time I get a relaxer, so I hope that helps. Other than that, my hair is pretty healthy!!!

Don't know what happened to my post so I hope I'm not repeating this.

But my damaged area is my crown. I got gum stuck in my hair when I was about 4 years old and had to get that section cut out. For years I thought that was the reason it was shorter than the rest of my hair :spinning: I know, crazy right!! But that's what I thought as a kid.

Now here I am a few years later (okay, a little more than a few years) and I still have a short crown area. So within the last 5 years I realized I need to make sure that I'm rinsing that area good when I put in my relaxer and I have to make sure I'm moisturizing it correctly since it's much thicker. It's a little better now but the length difference is very obvious.

I have the same story as Hairsnob. I got gum stuck in the nape of my hair and it had to be cut out. That was decades ago- no need to say how many, but that hair has never grown at the same pace as the rest. So I try to take extra care there and hope for the best.

I have traction alopecia in my crown area and left edges. My right edges are from a really bad relaxer burn. I use Neelibhringadi Oil on them and my crown is making progress albeit extremely slow. My edges have not budged. I just started using this oil this month but I have been using other oils always mixed with peppermint oil which I love. It's a work in progress.

I have problems with my nape area. I just can't wear updos or high ponytails as my nape hair is so short it just sticks out. The rest of my hair is healthy and growing steadily, but my nape just doesn't behave like the rest of my hair. It's also a lot more coarser. I've just started using my own sulfur oil mix on that area to speed up the growth and see if it helps.

edges why from tight roller set but they are comeing back . useing growth aide and mois them 2x aday its working

My left nap2 area was so bad off that it was one inch at one point while the rest of my hair was about 6 inches lone. Its recovered but it is still the weakest area. It just let it be with no chemicals and it has been doing very well.

the very front, nape, and right side are super thin from stress and traction alopecia. I resorted to rogaine & vitamin e cause nothing was working on those areas. I'm due to take a picture in a few weeks to see if any progress has been made in those areas......hmmm. I wonder if I'm just going to have to live w. it but that little glimmer of hope in me says if hair is visible, there's hope for growth.

My problem areas are my edges, particularly my right side. I've been putting Hydratherma Naturals Daily Moisturizing Growth Lotion on my edges twice a day.

I use to just a few months ago.
Nape and hairline
For my nape, I started applying VO5 Moisture Milk conditioner and now it's growing.
My hairline, I started applying Jamaican Castor Oil and emu oil in the daytime and at night I would apply emu oil with ginkgo biloba (not sure what made me try the ginkgo on my scalp, just sounded like the right thing to do..lol). My hairline has now filled in like there was never a problem. Now, I just need it to thicken up a bit and I'll be good to go.

Uhhh....My Whole Head is a: "Problem Area" After a Tragic Salon Mishap of Overlapping, Overprocessing (of both Color & Relaxer) and Poor Neutralization that caused me to Lose 90% of My Hair. This is what I am currently working with.:nono:

What I've Done other than Become a Total DIY, Instead of a Weekly Slave to the Hair Salon(s):
1) Incorporated Biotin, Chlorella, Spirulina (and another Hair Vitamin)
2) Nurse the Bald Spots back with Mega-Tek and other "Growth Aids"
3) Weekly DC Treatments with Heat i.e. Heat Cap or Steam
4) Up'd My Daily Water Intake
5) Co-Washed
6) Balanced Out my Protein & Moisture with Appropriate Products
7) Got My Porosity Issues In Check
8) Adopted a Low Mani Regimen
9) Patience & TLC:grin:

It's Working

Thanks for the responses ladies! I guess I'll just have to give the front a little extra "TLC". I hope this works. I just can't imagine why it's breaking. It's so frustrating!!!:wallbash:

omg! I didn't know that happen to you:sad:..Girl with the regi that you posted above, you'll be back in effect more fierce than eva!! Vitamins, up'd water intake and weekly DC Treatments will get you there!

YES!!!

My sides are my problem. My left side is the worst. It got burnt off when I used to get my hair pressed and since then it just doesnt retain length. It make sme hair look SO thin. I'm gonna cut my hair to ear length (thats how long the sides are). The right side broke off twice from when I went to the salon and they didnt wash out the relaxer properly. Its growing back though.

Moisture and low mani is what I have been doing so far.

In the front of my head I have a slightly bald patch. I was using rosemary and peppermint oil and I grew some hair there. Now I am using aloe vera gel. The reason that I switched was because it seemed to be slowing down and not growing anymore. I hope that the aloe vera works.
