Hmm.. Found this on another site. This may be the reason why it is safe to use Emergencee weekly. Does anyone know the difference between polymetric and protein conditioners??

"Nexxus Emergencee is not PROTEIN treatment like Ouidad, Redken Deep Fuel, or even Keraphix. (The ingredients are not the same.) It's a Polymeric treatment, which bonds hair together and preserves and promotes elasticity. (Proteins usually just ""fill up" spaces in the hair.) That said, after trying emergencee, it really works great to restrengthen the hair, but the results are different from protein treatments. I think those of us with serious hair repair work in front of us would benefit from alternating between protein and polymerics. "

Very much so, this is why I use DRC-28 and Penetraitt together. I use the DRC to fill in the spaces then the Penetraitt to act as a Polymetric to coat/bond the hair.

Thanks for the update...I tried Emergencee for the first time last night and I liked it very much. I will try your suggestion and alternate between Emergencee and Keraphix to see how my hair responds.

So do you mix the two together or do you use them back to back??

Yes, the polymers in Emergencee actually wrap little fibers around the hair to keep it protected and in tact. Proteins penetrate and "fill in" as you said.

I think a clear rinse would be similar to a polymeric conditioner.

A clear rinse? Something like a Colourshine treatment?

This might seem nuts, but since my hair has been thinning due to a bad perm can I use Sebastian penetrait, rinse out, use emergencee, rinse out, and then use a moisturizing? Or is this wwaaayyy to much protein.

Sorry I missed this. I use them back to back and follow up with Biolage Ultrahydrating Conditioner or Lafier Lanolina Rinse. Both moisturize and hydrate my hair really well post protein tx.

Clear rinse, huh? Perhaps that's why my hair was the bomb after getting my rinse a few weeks ago. Ultra shiny and healthy looking.

Besides a clear rinse, Penetrait, and Emergencee are there any other conditioners that would be similar [polymeric]?

I just got my bottle of Penetrait today can't wait to use it this weekend /images/graemlins/weird.gif

With that state and said....

What are the real protein products and what are the polymetrics conditioners ???

Supergirl ( the protein queen ) what do you think ???

Thanx for bumping this up Denali....so which is best to use before a chemical? Protein or polymetric> Which category does Bone Marrow condit. fit into?

Well since relaxers break down the protein bonds in hair, I always do a protein treatment a week after touch-ups. As for color, I do a protein treatment before for filling due to porosity.
