I don't normally post on this forum (more of a reader!) but I have a question...I have heard about Qhemet Biologics since the beginning of my hair journey in 2005, but never tried it. I have been quite frustrated with my hair this year because it seems that every time the weather changes and it gets a little cool, all of the moisture in my hair disappears. I mean, I'm talking about hair that's dryer than hay. Did a little research and kept seeing people mention this product. I decided to purchase their Alma and Olive heavy cream during their black friday sale and received it in the mail the next Friday (two days ago).

I read a couple more reviews while I waited for it to come in the mail. Some people raved about it, others said it just sat on their hair. I gave it a try after washing my hair Friday night. It seemed to just sit on my hair, no slip...I wasn't impressed. I put my hair in two ponytails and took it out the next morning.

When I tell you my hair was moisturized to the T...honey!

I'm a fan now...but my only problem is that I have to order it online. I'm not a fan of ordering hair products online because when I want my product I WANT IT. I prefer to just pick it up from CVS, Target, Walgreens, Whole Foods...even the BBS. I looked online and the closest that I could find this product was 15 miles away at Sephora. Nope. I can't fathom driving that far for a hair product.

So my question is: what products have you found work as wonderful as Qhemet Biologics Alma and Heavy Cream. My hair is high porosity, so I try to stay away from protein products. I feel like I've tried almost every leave in, but had no results similar to this. Someone, anyone please help!

If your is high porosity, why do stay away from protein? I'm also high porosity, but cleosha(my hair) can't survive without protein. TIA

Products:
Oyin Hair Dew (Target)
Aloe Vera juice (Vitamin shoppe; Whole Foods)
Maui Moisture (Target, Walmart, BBB)
Ayurvedic powders (Indian grocery)

QB products are stocked in Sephora's with a large AA demographic. Depending on where you live, you can buy it on the ground (OTG) from there.
This.
Even though I live in NYC, there are three definite Seph.oras that sell it and one is roughly 15+ miles away, driving. I have to take public transportation to the other two.

I can’t think of a dupe because the Amla and Olive is pretty heavy.

Gasp! They sell Qhemet Biologics at Sephora now. That's great news. I like the Amla and Olive Heavy cream too. Wow, they're doing bigs things. So proud of them.

That’s why I like it, I need the heaviness in the colder months. It’s to the point where even shea butter is doing nothing for me.

I tried Oyin hair dew years ago, I might have to see if it can help. And Maui, I see their line at target I’m going to try that first.

Protein just makes my hair hard, which just leaves me with dry + hard hair. Is it possible to be high porosity + protein sensitive...?

Are you deep conditioning AND closing your cuticles afterwards. It could also be the type of protein you are using.

I'm high porosity and I've never found a dupe for QB Alma. It's moisturizes my hair for daysss. But I didn't like how I had to buy online and shipping was too expensive. But ice never found anything on the ground that compares.
I've tried
Oyin Hair dew- did nothing for me
Soultanicals cream,, I forgot the name, I believe it was a butter creme but it didn't work.
As I am double butter cream - nothing
TgI cream- nothing
Shea moisture smoothie - nope

Nothing compared to me.

Maybe Oyin's Whipped Pudding. I haven't tried it myself, but I saw a review on it and someone said it is VERY thick and moisturizing. In the review they said the consistency of it was between the Quemet's Amla Heavy Cream and the Burdock Root Cream. If I find the video, I'll link it.

Edited: Couldn't find it, BUT I know a lot of people like the Camille Rose Curlaide Moisture Butter.

Nah, I've tried whipped pudding. It's raw shea butter consistency, no where near Amla heavy cream. And it wasn't moisturizing for me.
To OP I also tried Came rose Almond hair and that made my hair dry.
There was something unique about Amla heavy cream that made it both a phenomenal Moisturizer and sealer. I don't remember if it had water anywhere in it, I think it was all whipped oils. But even applied to dry hair overnight I woke up and. My hair felt wet. It was a mystery.
