I was wondering how true it is about not getting your hair wet before you relax or texturize. I thought all you had to do was make sure that your scalp is not agitated within those few days, what exactly would the water do? I noticed that some people do their touch ups half and half and I find it difficult to not get a little water on the other half that does not have relaxer in it.

Well whenever I'm getting ready for a relaxer if I've sweated and my head is wet, I sit under the dryer on cool. Until it's dry. My mom won't relax my hair when it's wet.

Hmmm...can't wait to see more responses- each time I texturixed my hair over the past 2 years (4 times) I did it while wet.
Am I harming it or just retarding the desired effects so that...the desired effect has not yet been obtained?

I texturize on dry hair. I put in leave-in on the old hair and sometimes a little water on the new growth a couple of hours ahead of time and let it dry.

I was told by my ex stylist to wait at least 3 days after washing to apply a relaxer. I personally must wait at least 5 days. After 3 days, I burned horribly.

I don't know how true this is b/c when I used to get my hair relaxed, my stylist would spray my relaxed hair with something that she said kept it from getting damaged and overprocessed. I can't imagine the newgrowth not getting wet during this process.
