I have always been very curious about one thing about hair. What is the difference between curls and ringlets? How do ringlets form, and how many inches does it take to form a ringlet?

They are exactly the same thing.
Ringlets are a tighter coil pattern than curls.
To have mostly ringlets, you have to have a certain shape of hair follicle...

Some kids have ringlets because their hair is shorter than when they are adults... so hair lengths plays a part of it as well.
(It takes no inches to form a ringlet, it depends on your hair and how much you have to create 1 full spiral...then 2 spirals, etc)

I have ringlets that were super tight when my hair was short, but are loosening up now that my hair is growing.
