I just wanted to see if anyone else was doing this. I tried it last week and my hair dried really soft. I have 4b hair and I have no luck with air drying. My hair turns out so crispy when I wash with tap water. I purchased a water filter and it didn't make any difference.

I did this before I bought a water filter for my shower. But I stopped once I got a shower filter. If it works for you, I say keep on doing it.

I'm such a PJ, but distilled water is one of my only true STAPLES! I wet my hair with it as well (so it's the first water touching it). I get the gallons at Walmart for $.58 and a gallon will last me 2-3 washes.

I have never did the whole process with distilled water... just final rinses. I don't really see a difference, but then again my water is only slightly hard.

I'm gonna head to Wal-Mart and get a couple of gallons. I've noticed a huge differnce since my last wash. My hair isn't as dry. I guess all of those minerals really make a difference!

I tried this last week on my hair and it was great. I was finally able to get my head to stop itching and the soreness I had in the middle of my hair cleared up. My only problem was that I used the whole gallon on my head in only one wash. What is your technique and how are you able to use a gallon per 2-3 washes. Not that it is a big deal because the water is only $.58 but it would be nice to know.

Thanks

I used an entire gallon also. Good question!

I did this in college because we had the nastiest water on earth.

If you have nasty or hard water, washing and rinsing with distilled water is a good idea.

But I have well water at home and it is even better.

sprung ~ I pour it in a big cup and pour the cup over my head. Sometimes, if the water is really cold, I'll set the cup in hot tap water for a few minutes to warm it up.

strive/corbins ~ I don't use it for the whole wash, just to wet my hair (a big cup full) and to final rinse (another cup full). When I wet with the big cup full, my hair isn't soaking wet so I still have to use a little tap water because I like to rinse my hair really well. As the final rinse, I'll rinse, say, 75% of the conditioner out with tap water and use another big cup full of distilled water for the rest. HTH!

This has been the best thing I have ever done for my hair. I would try all these products (NTM for example) that everyone raved about and NOTHING would work. My hair would be so dry and wouldn't respond to ANYTHING - conditioners, leave ins, moisturizers, NOTHING. I tried this, and everything is working again! I don't know if I have hard water or not, but there's something in there that was drying out my hair.

Same here! I was hoping to stock up by buying in bulk at Sam's, but they don't carry gallon sizes of dw.

Yup! I wash and condition using dw. The water filter did nothing for my hair. You're not alone! :)

Excellent point! Many don't understand that this is another symptom of hard water, when your products "don't seem to be working".

I live in an area that the water here is extremely hard. The water test determined "hardest". So, needless to say, it will never touch my tresses again. DW is the only way to go until I get my water softner installed.
