I found some great products (as you all know) that really work wonders on my hair. But after about 4 weeks of consistent use, the "oomph" wasn't quite in my hair anymore. Plus, my hair didn't quite seem as strong as it was before. I tried to think "What should I do?"

Then, I got the answer to my problem from Sareca.

Now, Sareca might be wonderin'..."What in the heck did I say?"

In a thread (I don't know which one) you mentioned how whenever you DC with protein, you follow up with moisture and if you DC with moisture, you follow up with protein.

So, I though, hey, why don't I alternate between DCing with light protein and moisture just like her?

IT WORKED BEAUTIFULLY!!!!

I think the alternating order ensures that I maintain a really good moisture/protein balance.

So...

THANK YOU SARECA!!!!

Maybe I need to try this. Can you suggest a good light protein? I only use the Aphogee that you use once every 6-8 weeks. TIA...

I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. Thanks for the confirmation. I'm definately going to alternate now.

Sounds ok, but that would be too much protein for me since I use a moisturizing DC every wash.

Hmm. I just read from another thread that my Moisturizing DC (kenra) contains protein. Its wheat protein which is a moisturizing and strengthening protein so I guess Aphogee 2 min is good enough every 6 weeks.

Thanks to Sareca, I now prepoo with protein on dry hair under a heat cap, CW, oil rinse, and follow up with Silk Elements cholesterol. My shedding is to a minimum and I can still get a comb/pick through this 12 week, post relaxer hair! I do this once a week. The protein on dry hair with the heat, is my DC. All else, is done in the shower. It works great!

You know what i think i will try this tomorrow. Sometimes my hair just feels so good after a protien con. I don't want to use a moist con. But i do and it just does not feel the same.

Hey, glad it's working for ya. If I use too much protein my hair pitches a big ol' fit. I can use light proteins (wheat, silk, oat) but if I use the hard stuff (even right after a relaxer) I HAVE to follow up with moisture.

Lately I've been skipping even the light stuff (I use it once every couple weeks now). I guess all that protein I add to my relaxers is paying off. :drunk:

I sometimes mix moisture and protein together for a super condition...saves time too.

I did this too this week... the results were pretty good. I can't tell yet b/c I used a few new products this week. it's rally necessary for me b/c not all parts of my hair require as much protein as others.

I think I may have to try this too! Is Keracare Humecto and Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor a good combo for this protien moisture alternation?

Hello ladies, the whole moisture and protein thing is new to me. Would you please give me some names of a moisture con, and a good protein con. Thanks.
