Shea Moisture Shampoo gone bad?

I only had my Shea Moisture Moisture Retention Shampoo for a two months and I wonder if its going bad. I only use it about once a week and I am half done with the bottle. I ask because now when I pop open the lid after a few days, it makes a little pop sound like its under pressure; as if I flew with it. The smell is a little stronger than before - like melted plastic. I'm trying to remember how strong the smell was before, but I don't have an unopened bottle to compare with.

I never had a shampoo go bad before and I wonder if this is my first. Has anyone had any Shea Moisture products go bad before?

My Moisture Retention Poo started smelling funny after a few weeks too. I thought it was just me, but it started to smell like... I dunno... wet dog or something. I mean it smells the same but with a bit of wet dog mixed in. Perhaps the preservative is not very strong and water made its way into the bottle?

Yes! It does smell a little like wet dog! I thought I was going crazy because I don't remember it smelling like this when I first got it. I also use their Deep Cleansing Shampoo, but that one is fine.

Because its something I use in the shower, I've always gotten a little water in my shampoos and conditioners in the past with no problem. I guess it is the preservative.

stop storing your natural products in the shower when not in use.....keep in a cool, dark place.

Actually, I did with this one. I think the problem is actually using it in the shower. I wash my hair both over the kitchen sink and shower and that's probably where the contamination happened.

ETA: Its a good lesson for me to pour a little in a container to take with me to the shower when I use it. :spinning:

bumping- does anyone else have this issue with the shampoo? Are you ladies going to trash the shampoo you do have? I ask because mine smells different also but I keep my shampoo in my bedroom closet and I purchased it a couple months ago.

That is interesting. I emailed the company about this Friday and I have yet to hear from them. I was just curious if they are having a chronic issue with this or if this was isolated. It seems others are having this issue.

I am going to trash mine, but I wanted to see how it "evolves" first. I wont use it again though. :nono:

Ok, this is devastating cause I love this shampoo. I've used it like 3 to 4 times in the shower but I keep it stored in a dark closet. I hope one day it doesn't start smelling like wet dog. :nono:

i keep mine under my sink and only take it out when i use it. ive had it for almost 2months and it smells the same way as when i first bought it
