Recently I purchased unrefined Shea Butter from african site (can't remember exact name at the moment). Anyway we (dd's and I) have been using it on our hair for about a couple of weeks now. I noticed my hair has been shedding uncontrollably bad, and also my dd's. I wonder though is this the culprit. We haven't did anything different in our regime, other than this. But to clarify, here's what "I" did.

I used my blender to whip the shea, then added in a few different oils and glycerin. I whipped all together and had a nice buttery texture to it. I was so proud of myself, even if I "don't" know what I'm doin.:lachen:

So long story short, my hair now is shedding tooo much. And is rather crunchy....yes crunchy :perplexed. I have read Sisterslicks Moisture/Protein Balance.

So do you all think Shea Butter is doing this?

Products we use

Shampoos:
MillsCreek Biotin Shampoo
Aphogee Shampoo for Damaged hair

Conditioners:
Millscreek Biotin Conditioner
Aphogee 2 mins Reconstructor
Aubrey Organic Rose

Leave Ins
Aphogee
Giovanni

I am relaxed and use minimum heat.

TIA Ladies.

If you only added that, then yep. Everything isn't for everybody. I used to use Mills Creek and that made my hair shed. It has olefin in it which is a harsh detergent that "natural" product makers use so they can claim sulfate free. But if it hasn't caused shedding until you added shea butter then it's fine for you. Raw shea has a tendency to be disliked by some people's hair, especially relaxed hair. So if that's ALL you added that's different then I'd say leave it alone girl!!!

ETA~ I just looked at that shampoo and it's not the same stuff I used.

Well I have went back to ORS moisturizer to see if it curbs the shedding. In the meantime I think I will look for some garlic.

Also that is interesting about the MillsCreek...I added both the MillsCreek and Shea butter at the same time. I'd used the millsCreek before but stopped...forgot why.
