I have a hair appointment with this lady and she tell me I need a corrective relaxer, but she also said I need to get my hair relax every month with mizani. (" It won't break your hair off at all') She tell me. Should I let her do a corrective relaxer?

O, and this is my first time going to her!:look: Please Help!

You don't HAVE to do what the stylist said, it is your hair not hers. I personally would not relax every month if I were you, but that is just me.

I have really thick hair and it won't lay down. what should I do to it?
I don't know abour corrective perms... I've never had one done. Personally, I think the lady is a quack and you're better off going to someone else who knows how to care for hair. This same person would probably pressure you into something you'll regret letting her do to your hair.

:stop: DO NOT GO TO THIS WOMAN TO GET YOUR HAIR DONE!!
Ditto - times 100!!!

Did she tell you what a "corrective relaxer" was? Or why you allegedly need it?

I haven't had a relaxer/texturizer since 2003, but this right here is wrong.
Tell her you need to see the receipts, because clearly she is on the same drugs that Whitney was on...

This is true, but any stylist who told me I needed to relax every month, would never touch my hair.

wet your hair and seal with moisturizer and oil. Tie your hair down with a scarf. Glad you are seeking advice. There are numerous suggestions and solutions from a lot of relaxed ladies here on this board who stretch. And they do all kinds of methods for laying down hair. Start looking at the ladies hair that you admire that closely match your hair type and ask questions to them, even if you have to pm them. That should get you on the right track too. HTH!

and Happy Hair Growing!

ITA. That is rediculous and means that she knows NOTHING about hair. That's basics... who doesn't know that you do not get your hair relaxed every month?? Then she has the nerve to push that onto her clients? God only knows what else she's doing wrong to hair... I wouldn't let her get within 10 feet of my hair.

oh yes I definitely agree with you, I am just saying that she doesn't have to give in to what the stylist wants at all. The customer is paying for the service and she(customer) should be the one to dictate.. or better yet, she doesn't need to go to her at all if the stylists is still persistent, this is where I was coming from.

Please steer clear :nono: she just wants to keep you coming regularly for the money.

:lachen::lachen::lachen:okay...

I know that the right thing to do but I didn't overprocess this time and my hair is poffy in the back!
I don't know your type of hair, but my hair is also poofy after a relaxer. That's because I have thick hair. All you have to do it proceed to style like you usually do, and your hair should lay down fine.

This is a before and after a perm and style on the same day (I don't want to make the pics big, so I hope you can see the poofiness of my hair right after my perm):

After styling

I hope this helps.

this woman is trying to use you

this money hungry chick:rolleyes:
does she have hair:yawn:
dont do it and if the relaxer is not going to take it wont maybe you should try roller setting it works wonders or try to self relax

I know you guy are right. I just thought sense I didn't relax my hair in the back good she would probably be right about the corrective relaxer, but when she said I needed a relaxer ones a month, I was like ''what, are you sure, are you sure". She was like yes because if I didn't get my hair was going to fall out because that part I didn't get needs to be relax, and she also told me she know what she talking about because she has a black client with hair all the way down to her butt

Girl, no. Dont go to this woman. It's evident she dont know what she talkin about because first off, everybody's hair is differently. And secondly, she never done your hair before so how da heck she know what you need and when :nono:?

You know what? You know better than that crap she's talking and you know it too! The fact that you asked shows that you're having second thoughts. Follow your first mind, which is telling you that she's wrong. Not only that, with the stuff she's talking, who's to say that she even knows how to apply the relaxer for a "corrective"? I would not use this woman. Just because she has a shop, chair and some hot curlers doesn't make her a good stylist.

ETA:: I have a feeling you're still gonna go to her though...

O and seximami her hair is short, it stop at her ears.I didn't think about that!:lachen: Thanks everybody I was about to make a biggy!

Well, if you go, we will be ready for the "Help - my hair is falling out/breaking and my hairline is now back behind my ears" thread.

Seriously, do NOT let this woman touch your head. Don't even put your head in the same zip code with her shop.

She may or may not be right about the corrective relaxer. But personally, once she said anything about relaxing once a month, she would be immediately be dropped from consideration as my stylist.
