Right now I am getting over my being pissed off. I almost wanted to chop my hair to neck length because when I took my weave out to wash and condition it...I blew it out and felt good about the front...so I looked in the back just to see that my middle back is totally jacked up!
the middle back is neck length and the sides are sorta kinda on it way to APL.
Okay, so I took the weave out gently, but I think when I combed the shed hair out, i may have been a tad bit rougher than I usually would have been. I regret doing that. I kinda always had a problem with the middle back being a tad bit thinner, but this ish is rediculous.
I started thinking about some of the threads here, like the upside down V thread and such.

I don't know what to think. What I did was cornrow it back up and put a weave back on top of it and I am just going to leave it alone.
Well what do you ladies think...should I just grow it out and trim at the end of the year or should I trim now and grow out? I'm thinking wait it out...I'm just kinda upset about my set back and now i think full APL won't arrive until Dec 08 and i can just forget about BSL until 09.
Ladies, please share your similar situations or advice

Awwww- Im sorry this has happened to you. The one track idea sounds like a good one.

(((HUGS)))

Best of luck.

So sorry this happened...hopefully someone will chime in soon with a solution for you. :perplexed Don't lose hope.

I feel your pain...why not wait it out and try braids instead of the weave to promote growth?

Maybe I will do braids. I mean my hair is growing. When I washed it i do have 1/2 inch of ng in some areas and 3/4 of ng in other areas and I permed about 3-4 weeks ago.
I do remember getting good growth when i had braids, but the braider cleaned up the braids by trimming off the fray hairs, which were mine for the most part...anyways I did still get good growth with the braids and I DO know how to do them myself, so maybe I will just do braids once I take this weave out 2-3 weeks from now. Thanks for ur input.

Well, I was just wondering how you took care of your hair BEFORE putting in your weave. The condition it's in before you put it away, and the way you care for it while it's in the weave may be contributing to the shedding and breakage, and you will want to change whatever the problem is so you don't repeat it.

I'm so sorry for the setback, but my advice to you would be to make sure the hair is strong, moisturized and happy during the year, so that you don't have the same problem when you unveil it next time. HTH

ETA: What's your reggie?

You can consider wearing a wig next time .Your hair will be cornrow under the wig and you can wash anytime you want to.

ITA ^^^^^. I can attest to thin hair in the middle back of my head. It is trying to recover. I realize that it needs more moisture than anywhere else on my head- that epiphany has really help it a lot. Instead of weaving, how about a half-wig. That way you can take it off at night moisturize and seal and give that area lots of TLC :yep:. You can even baggy it while wearing the half wig.

Take pics, baby your hair, and I look forward to your update Sweetie!

Funny you ask what my reggie is, because come to think of it. I don't think I have one. If I do have one it's just to wash every 2 weeks cornrow and leave it alone.
I have to say when I first started out my hair growth/health journey I usto condition wash it every other day, put it in a loose plait with no rubber band and just rock it like that with a phony pony. That's when my hair started to thickn up.
It was alot of work, but I was happy with the results. I slowed that down and started leaving it alone and putting it in weaves so it could grow faster...i guess. I would oil my roots with my growth mixes...but it looks as if my hair likes to be condition washed and sealed with oil, like I was doing in the beginning. I hardly had any shedding or breakage back then.
hummm.
Thanks Moroni for asking cuz I think I know what I have to do now!!!! Take it back to the basics.

I 2nd this. I had this happen to me before I wore a weave for more than 3 months (which was too long for my fine hair) and when I removed it my hair was pretty matted so my weak spot is the middle back of my head. So now I am stretching with the help of a half wig. I co wash and dc every 3 days and do either cornrows or individual braids in the back of my hair and moisturise . I am now using individuals since I have a lot less tangling than with the cornrows and I am very happy. hardly no breakage at all .
