Two monthly check-ins down, three to go. What's everyone's progress so far?

As for me, I haven't measured yet. However, I've modified my routine. It goes like this:

Once a week (Monday for now) I do my usual pre-shampoo (EVOO + deep conditioner). Next, I wash my hair with Nexxus Diametress (a thickening shampoo) and condition it with Suave Milk and Honey to which I've added 1 1/2 tablespoons of EVOO and 1/2 a teaspoon of honey.

After rinsing and towel drying my hair, I make a basic braid and just let it air dry. No other products are applied to my hair.

I plan to get a touch-up next month before my vacation, so I'll be sure to measure my hair, then.

I had been using Sure for 3 weeks in May, and then IT happened again. So I've canned the Surge once again. So much for that.

I've also ordered (just this morning) Hair Formula 37, a supplement that has worked well for me in the past. The last time that I used it, I was in high school and gained a full inch for the entire 7 months that I used it. Normally, my hair grows between 1/4" and 1/2", so I'm hoping it'll work for me again. Besides, my nails are genetically very week, so I'm looking forward to actually be able to open a can of soda.

How is it going for everyone else? Fall in! Ten-hut and all like that there.

I don't know how much growth I have experienced yet, because I am about 11 weeks post relaxer and will relax in a couple more weeks. And I have been wearing my hair in braidout or twistouts most of the time.

And I have been wearing my hair in braidout or twistouts most of the time. But my hair is doing really good. I haven't had any breakage for about a month and I've got some great elasticity.

My hair is about 4.5 inches. I forgot what my starting point was. Anyway, Im doing about 3-4 co washes per week. moisturizing with break free and using a small amount of kemi oyl.

trying to take vitamins but i hate swallowing

No heat either. So far its been two months

Im gonna end up cutting most of my potential inches off...but I'm still hanging in here. I've gotten about 3/4 of an inch since the summer began. I can tell because of my color line...

I haven't measured yet either. I took a picture c few weeks after the challenge started and will take a final picture before the challenge is over. I have a lot of newgrowth. My regimen will be different for the summer, because I am going to treat it as though I am transitioning. If I relax, I will wait until sometime in September.

What are ya'll doing? not relaxing until summer is over? If so, that's an excellent challange. My last touch up was May 12th 2004. Can I join or am I already disqualified? I didn't plan on relaxing until Aug 2004 but I think I (probably) can swing until Sept 2004. So far I have about half inch of new growth (i think)

Jump right on in, Suga!

Anyone may join or drop at any time. This is challenege is just to motivate everyone who wants to retain length to make a goal for the summer, whatever that may be for them. The challenge ends on September 22nd 2004.

I dont know how much growth I've gotten, has to have been at least 2 inches since april... at this rate i think i WILL make my goal of 20 inches by august, maybe even surpass it!

right now i'm in braids (cornrows) and have been for 2 weeks (as of thursday) I plan on taking them out Sunday or Monday and washing with Nexxus Therappe, doing a protein treatment with Keraphix, and deep conditioning with Humectress. I will also start doing co washes with Suave M&H every/other day. I'm thinking about switiching up my pre-poo treatment (I normally use EVOO or KeraCare Essential Oils, but I'm out of both and dont want to spend $13 for that little bottle of KCEO!) I don't know what oils I'm going to use.. but I'll be sure to let you ladies know on the next check in!

(editing to add..) I still haven't relaxed since april, I'm 10 weeks post relaxer right now and am very proud of myself! I plan on getting a strawset (next week maybe?) as my next protective style to try. I will not be relaxing til August and i think i will make it to 16 weeks!

btw, boadicea, beautiful hair!

Well, I haven't officially measured yet, but from pulling on it, I think i gained an inch last month. But I also lost an excessive amount of hair about 3 days ago when i washed it. Man, I don't ever lose that much hair unless i just took it out from braids...i don't know what happened!
But anyway my routine is going through some adjustments. I'm still taking Biotin although I think I'm going to double my dosage, my B-complex (although it runs out pretty soon and I will not restock just yet), and chlorella every now and then. I'm still surging although I'm considering giving it a break- I noticed more shedding than usual when I used Surge before (Dec/Jan) and suspect it has something to do with the shedding i just experienced.
As soon as possible I will be getting braids and keeping my hair braided until August, maybe September! I am doing too much damage to it right now with it being free and available to my hands

I haven't measured either but I'm gaining back the inches I cut off in March.

My nails are also growing!! They are longer than ever, and very hard. My mom even noticed. I think the biotin is really helping.

me too! i know for a FACT that it is the biotin, because my nails have always grown long (like the other ladies in my family) but they would always break.

I guess I will jump in as well. My last relaxer was on May 1st I was going to wait until my b-day next month but I decided to just do my edges last night and am ready to wait a while longer. I will try to hold on for as long as I can. Right now I wash my hair 2wce a week with Dove Moisturizing shampoo. I deep condition once a week with UBH Conditioner/I alternate on the other day with Elasta QP. I use the following products post wash (Product Junkie!)

Neutrogena Serum.
UBH creme lotion or
Neutorgena Triple Moisture Silk Touch Leave (I use this sparingly)

Kemi Oyl: A little if my hair needs it.

Right now my main hairstyle is a braid out or I use the yellow perm rods for a really curly style. I am seriously trying to eliminate all heat but I do cheat every once and a while.

sometimes.

I got a cut but my hair is growing nicely underneath. I really want a touch-up....I said I wouldn't do it but geesh.

I am still not doing anything special, just my regular routine.
Although, I have stopped doing co washes as my scalp is too oily.
Now on workout days that I don't shampoo I do an acv rinse. It seems to keep my scalp really clean. My hair has grown a bit, but I won't know my overall length until I have it blown out after the challenge. Good luck ladies.

Im going to follow my regime thats posted in my album in the About Me link. I just got a relaxer touch-up this Sunday (June 13). I usually relax every 4-6 weeks. this time, Im not going to relax until September 2004. I will also start wearing protective styles once I get a lotta new growth, or maybe even a few weeks into waiting for a touchup!

I know I've gained at an inch, but I haven't measured. I plan on getting braids in at least a month or until my new growth becomes unmanagable. I'm still continuing to wash every 3 days. Either way, I'm trying to stretch my relaxer out until Sept. 2004.

I haven't measured my hair either. My hair stretched barely reached my collarbone. I have had my hair put in kinky extensions. This Friday 18 June will be two weeks, since I have had them in. Most days I rinse my hair, or if I don't get time to rinse, I surge my roots daily. I will try to keep the extensions in until the end of July.

Me, I'm not doing as well as I have had in the past. I'm at 23 inches. I had 21 inches in January, so that means I've only gained 2 inches, but in two months I've been able to keep 1/2 an inch. Just time to keep growing.

I can't really tell b/c of the shrinkage & I'm trying not to think about it until I measure in September. I haven't been texturized since the first week of March... so I'm trying to stick it out for the rest of the summer (which ain't easy y'all b/c I have considerable new growth). At this point I can only see an additional inch w/the shrinkage (unstretched). I need to take pics after a coconut milk rinse to keep me motivated.
smile.gif
I keep finding really long hairs that surprise me, but they'll probably end up on the floor when I get a trim @ the end of the challenge (don't want to get myself overly excited
look.gif
). I think I'm going to fork over the cash and order Viviscal too, b/c I know I'll gain an inch every month.
ohwell.gif

I'm still playing w/my routine and adding new products, but I have been wonderfully consistent and kind to my hair. I have been w/o heat since my last texturizer and committed to twist and braid-outs. I CWC 2 (sometimes 3) times per week and shampoo only a few times per month.

I just added dates to my calendar yesterday for my next salon visits. I'm going for my bi-annual touch-up & correction at the end of August (just in time for a wet vacation). Won't have her use any heat, just wash n' wear it out. Then I have a special event the second week of September for which I will have a Dominican blow-out

(after 6 full mos. w/o heat!!!

)of course followed by pics and measuring.

Best Wishes to all Challengers, new and old!!!!

I got my last relaxer on June 9th. I can tell it has grown some. I beleive my new growth was at a 1.5 inch. 7 weeks into my relaxer. MY Hair Journal
This is the progress between the 2 relaxers. I dont use heat to dry my hair unless you count a hooded dryer for wet sets. I use Surge but only for the moisutrizing benefits. NTM shampoo and motions silk protein conditioner.

I also clarified every 2 weeks.

I haven't measured or anything yet. The only thing that i've been doing differently is going to the salon once a week for a wash and set.
This wkend, I plan on re-incorporated my pre-treatment and doing daily conditioner washes (with the exception of wearing my hair out 3 days a week).

Well I'm 10weeks opst relaxer and I haven't measured yet either. I probably won't measure until after I relax. At this point I don't know when that'll be. But it will be before the challenge is over. All in all, I'm getting pretty good growth and my ends are holding well after the last trim. I've been seriously slacking on my vitamins and CO washes, but my hair still seems to be doing pretty ok.

Ayeshia, gelcaps are where it's at. It's the only way I can stick to taking vitamins.

i'm making progress. hair is definetly growing but i don't know how much in inches. started washing three times a week instead of two. next retouch is in 9 weeks.

I refuse to try to measure my hair in inches anymore. I just think a watched pot never boils. I do have some new growth, but it is so wavy from surging every day, I can't tell how much is new growth! I keep my hair in a single well moisturized bantu knot and wear phony ponies for the summer. The knot feels bigger though!

I'm 5 weeks post relaxer ...feels like 10. Not even a ton of new growth but my hair is just looking rough. I am going to get a trim next month. Some parts of my hair only have an inch to go b4 bra strap

My last relaxer was in the beginning of May. I'm making progress by wearing moisturized buns. My length is progressing greatly with the scalp massages.
