Hair Coach
Hello Ladies!!

We have made it through the first month of the year. We have been on the Super Grow Out Challenge for an entire month.

Is everyone sticking to their regemins?

How is everyone doing?

Anyone need encouragement, advice or support??

This is what we are here for!!

We need to stay focused on consistency. Our hair likes that and will reward us tremendously for it!!

Come on ladies, it’s time to check in.

I have an updated list of ladies that I will list below. The list is alphabetized.

I had to split the list up because the forum said it was getting too long. That’s a good thing though. I split the list up into two sections, A-L and M-Z

I will start a new thread at the beginning of each month and everyone’s names will be listed. I will put a star(*) by your name as you check in. For every month that you check in before the end of the month you will have a star representing that month.

I'm sticking to my challenge. I've been 20 weeks post texturizer and so far so good. I will be installing braids soon to wear as a protective style.

I will like to join!

Are there any rules to the challenge, or is it all about sticking to a routine that works best for me??

I hope in achieving 6 inches from now till December 2005, and growing out one section of my hair that just won't budge :(!

Thanks for letting me join in on this challenge! Can't wait to see the results! :)

I'm still sticking to my regimen, and so far so good. I got a touch up a little over a week ago, and I definetly think I'm going to make my goals this year!

So far so good! I'm sticking to my regimin. Will be trying out a few Paul Mitchell products to see if I can add them to my product rotation. I'm still doing the bun and baggie thing. I think I'm gonna braid up this month to help me stretch my relaxer to 12 weeks. No trim planned so far. My ends look great thanks to the baggie method.

I FINALLY got a digital camera. I'll post pics tomorrow night and update my siggy since tomorrow is wash day.

Sticking to my regimine okay. I had a slip up last week and missed wash day, Thursday, (because I was sick), I ended up washing on Sunday but I hope to get back on schedule this week! I also need to be better about moisturizing my ends at night!

Hey DSD,

I joined, but my name is not listed....Brownsugarbabe.

As far as my regime. I've been consistent and have seen overall improvement in the health of my hair. I've only been on the boards for about a month, but I have learned so much!

I've been trying to stick to my regimen and I've been pretty good at it. This month was kinda hard because I was daling with some damage from the month before.

I learned how to do a bun, so I'm gonna be okay

I am sticking to my regimen and currently am inbetween braided styles. As soon as my hair gets here I will get it braided up again.

I have been about 45% consistent with my regimen, (horrible, I know, and I have paid for it with some minor breakage) but this month I'm shooting for 100% :)

Um, how does this challenge thingy work? I guess I don't know because I'm a semi-newbie...

Could I join? Even if my regimen is undergoing... some construction? I would say that 90% of it is solid. It just needs some fine tuning.

ALLMINE checking in:)

I'm doing good. Still sticking to my routine. I clock in at a little under half an inch this month. So my growth is 24.48". So I'll just bump it to 24.5". That's not cheating too much is it?

I'm sticking to my routine. The only thing though is since I chopped all my relaxed hair off, and I am natural, my goals have changed a bit. More focused on health, moisture, and finding cute ways to wear my hair than with length at the moment. But I want to stay in this challenge cause I like you guys! :)

I will try to stick to my regime and be consistent but that's somewhat impossible since I am transitioning. Right now, airdried rollersets have been working for me. When my hair starts to get flat or not as curly/stylish anymore, I will put it in my synthetic scrunchie hair bun. I plan on washing and conditioning my hair once a week or every 2 weeks.

I'm not sure how much growth or length I've gotten or retained. It's hard to tell because of shrinkage (I almost have 18 weeks of new growth) and I'm on the no heat challenge (so I don't want to press my hair like I did on Christmas just to see how long it is).

Encouragement, advice, and support??? Here are some things that I'm trying to master: Pray, have patience, don't think about your hair (meaning don't stress or be depressed over it), and leave it alone!!! Also, don't get caught up in wanting your hair to look like someone elses' because it never will. And as you always say, DSD... don't speak defeat over your hair! ;)

Hello sg challengers!!

I did pretty good for month one!! I'm still developing a routine. I'm currently sporting braids and my new growth is soft and strong. I plan on being more agressive this month with taking care of my scalp though.

Good luck to all challengers!!!!
I'm feelin' good about this, DSD!!!

Ive been sticking to my regimine. Still washing 1-2x/week depending on my level of activity, deep conditioning after every wash and following up with a leave in and serum for rollerset under the dryer. So far my hair is doing well. I dont measure my hair so I have NO idea what the length is. I am retaining length and I have a TON of new growth after 3 weeks. I have no idea whats going on with my hair either its reverting or growing like weeds. Lets pray for the latter. So far so good!

I'm still fine tuning my regimen and trying to figure out what works for my hair. I did gain an inch this past month. YEAH!

I'm still experiencing moderate breakage, but it's much less than what I've experienced in the past. I plan on relaxing in 1.5 weeks. That will put me at 12 weeks post.

I have been consistent with my regimen this month but not consistent with products. I have paid the price for not being consistent with products but overall my hair is better than it has been in many many years. I am on the no measuring challenge so I don't know how long it is but my hairline is starting to fill in so, I will take that!

Wow, I'm not the only one!! Yeah ! I did the big chop on Saturday, cut off four inches and have about four inches of new growth/natural hair! I'm developing a regimen which I've stuck to so far like glue... What has helped is keeping a journal by the bedside...

The natural hair is scary but I'm motivated, I've learned in just a few short days how much of a difference MOISTURE MAKES!!

So far, soo good. I have been sticking to my regimen. I've been moisturizing my hair like crazy since the weather in CT has been bitterly cold lately. I am 7 week post relaxer and trying to hold out to 9-10 weeks. My mom is telling me that I need to get a perm cause you can see all the new growth in the front of my hair. I've been spraying S-Curl on my ends and new growth. Right now my hair is really soft and my ends are moisturized. I've been using my Jilbere shower comb so I practically have no shedding as I get closer to needing a relaxer.

LadyChe Checking in --

still having a bit of trouble with my regimen - no love from the job regarding my protective styles. And scurl and I do NOT get along... dagnabit!

7 weeks post relaxer and post 1/2 inch trim. focusing on overall growth, but really focusing on growing out fringe bangs and graduated layers.

My hair didn't like the S-Curl either....however, my hair is very happy with the Sta-Sof-Fro!!

We are glad to have you!!

The rules are to have a regemin and stick with it. So consistency is the main rule. We are trying to retain as much length as possible for this year without concentrating on a set amount. So If you only grow and retain 3 inches that's fine. Everyone's hair grows at different rates so retention and consistency are our main focus.

I can't wait to see the pics!

If I were sick I wouldn't wash my hair either!! Just make sure to get back on track and moisturizing those ends are key!! HHG

Keep being consistent and your hair will snap bag to health in no time. The bun will be a lifesaver.

I'm doing GREAT! I am sticking to my regime for the most part. I've started using the Phytorelaxer on last Saturday! I have bought a new product to add to my arsenal, Kuz's version of the Alter Ego drops. I think that this month I am going to start going to the Dominican Salon more often, what's been stopping me has been the cold weather and wanting to stay in and cuddle. :)

Yes you can join. I have already added your name to the list!!

Some regemin is better than none at all. Seems like you have a pretty good handle on everything. What do you need to finish off your routine??

The challenge is about staying consistent and retaining as much length this year as possible.

Hi Ladies! I'm brand new to the board....don't even have my profile or pics up yet. But, I'm very interested in the super growout challenge. I'd already started Jan 1 with my own version of it and I'd like to join in with the group. Can you direct me to the specifics of the challenge...what the tips and suggestions are? Up until now, I've been trying to do my own research. My hair is DRY. It's just below chin length and it never grows past the base of my neck. It can get thick, but not long so I am here to learn how to break that cycle and flip this script. First, below my shoulders, then bra-strap, then, one day, even waist length. So please tell me where I can get all the info on the Super Growout Challenge.

Thanks! :p :)
