Tall 5'9" and over girls with WSL hair?? How long?

This is a slight spin on the type 4 longer than waist length girls.

I love seeing pics and hearing regimines of BSL and longer haired girls, and know that it's possible for 3s and 4s, relaxed and natural to have long healthy hair.

My question is for the tall girls. The cynic in me always thinks that most of the posters are shorter or avg. height. Thought process goes something like this: "Oooh! She made it to waist, how great.....she prolly only 5'3" "

Where are the taller girls with longer hair? I'm 5'10" and though I may look a little crazy with WSL, I would like it. I just think it may take 20 years, or I don't even know if my strands have a long enough lifetime to make it that far.

So tallies, how long did it take you to get where you are?

Sorry if this has been discussed already, if anyone has a link I'd appreciate it!

Well sad to say I no where near 5'9 and my hair is just a little longer than shoulder length. But i had to chime in because my aunt who is 6'3 has the most gorgous waistlength hair ever. I 'm not sure how long it took her to grow it. It's been that long for as long as I've known her. We were all devasted when she decided to cut it off recently.

I'm 5'10 and have longish hair :yep: It's between MBL and WL now (everytime I make to WL I start cutting dry ends off and up right back at MBL) ... no you won't look crazy with long hair at all. Mine stays in a bun most of the time anyway. But to answer your question, yes it can be done.

Good question. But what about the distance from head to waist or head to bsl/bsb or wherever for that matter. Some people are tall, but have short torsos and long legs or avg ht with long torsos and short legs. So many variables!

My mom is 5"11 and she use to have waist length hair. I'll have to ask her how long it took to grow. I do remember seeing her with varied lengths hair (long, short, long, short) as I was growing up.

I'm only 5'8" and I'm not WL but you should measure how many inches you need. Even though I'm not super tall, I need almost 20" (from my nape) for my hair to be WL. That gave me an idea of how long it'll take me to get there.

Anyway, measure it just so you have a realistic idea of how much time you may need. I know it can get discouraging because there are several people here who have made WL pretty quickly (like in a year from APL) but I realized it's because the number of inches is fewer for them, not because they have a faster growth rate. For many tall people, it's impossible to get to WL from SL in 2 years (for example), just because of the number of inches needed.

I agree! Thanks for wording it like I couldn't!:lachen:

I believe that achieving WL has to do more with your torso length more than how tall you are.

To me women with shorter torsos can get to WL faster than women with longer torsos regardless of height. JMO.

You worded this perfectly.

Good point! Cuz i think i have a pretty short torso/high waist with long legs..... And as you can kinda see from my profile pic, there's only a slight difference between my mid-back area and my natural waist, since my back isn't that long. So making WL seems like it would be quicker/more feasible for me than for a girl (of any height) with a super long torso.

I'm 5'8 and nothing BUT legs and i'm right at waistlength. Is 5'8 even considered tall? I think i'm average but everybody else thinx im so tall

I'm 5'8" as well, and I dread to think of how long it may take me to reach WL. I even though my torso is longer than the average woman, I don't think it's super long so that it would take me a very long time to reach WL. At least I hope not :look:.

5.9 1/2 if not 5'10 checking in! I don't think it should take too long to reach WL. A short torso always help if ur very anxious to get past that point (me me me!!) and of course the growth rate.

the average female height in the US is 5'4". so if you're 5'9" like me, you're pretty much an amazon. tall girls, unite! haha. nah, i don't have too many friends as tall or taller than me. i'm pretty much it. but i think there's something in the water up here in iowa. when i moved here, i noticed WAY more tall chicks than anywhere else i've lived. it's neat.

well that sucks for me. i have a long torso AND long legs. man, it'll take about 2+ years i'm thinking. c'mon chlorella!

Agree on how frustrating it may be for us tall folk!

I am a little over 5'9 and although I am not trying for waist length, I hope to make MBL in about 12 months from now. I am currently grazing APL.

I'm only 5'7". My hair grows at average speed, but I retain all of my growth, so it's not taking me long. I have a long torso but Ill be WL next year.

I might not have such a hard time because I'm 6' tall but most of my height is in my legs. I have a rather short waist (but a long neck).

I'm 5"11.5' tall. Right now I'm APL. My natural waist is maybe three inches from BSL. So I think it will probably take me maybe 2 to 2.5 more years to get close to my natural waist enough to claim it (that's with chopping two inches a year for thickness sake, I love me some thick ends).

I am 5'9" and I completely took out the idea of WL hair from my mind..lol I don't feel like I would ever make it because of my height. I just want to get to BSL..something I've never had in my life..and I'll probably be content. But those of you tall ladies who are trying to make it to WL maybe one day you will be my inspiration

I need to pull out my measuring tape...I'm 5'9 but I have a average torso, with freakishly long legs(IMO) It may not take as long as I thought to make it to WL after all! Thanks for this post OP!

I am 5'9", but I am high-waisted (I go by the skinniest point on my torso, if that makes sense). My waist is about 12-18 inches away from where my hair is now.

So, with a normal growth rate, it would take less than 3 years to make it.

Hm, now, I wonder if I have a small torso. I did some quick measuring, and the length from my head to my legs is about 28 inches, give or take.

I agree with the above. Measure the distance on yourself and then consider your growth rate or the average of 1/2 inch per month (or 6 inches per year) and you can estimate how long it will take you to get there.

I am 5.9 with a long torso. I am currently MBL with 2'' from WL. I have been growing my hair since feb-mar 2008 starting with a little past shoulder length. But great post OP, I wanted to know too :)

5"11 checking in..I have a long neck and torso so I dont expect to see MBL for a while..right now I am APL..but with daily bunning I will see it sooner..

i'm 5' 9" and will probably make WL by the end of this year (only a few inches to go).

i have a short torso though. :look: if it helps validate me, i do have one of the longest necks ever! i figure i can probably make it to classic length if i really wanted and it's in my genes, but if i were going for longer lengths that involve leg measurements, i'm SCREWED.

no seriously, my inseam is freakin 36" and my SO who is 5' 11.5" only has a 32" inseam. my legs they are the majority of my height. it would take me a decade to grow from my hips to my knees! :lachen:

i agree with the above. you gotta pull out that measuring tape & see :drunk::grin::drunk: i'm 5'10 and measuring from my nape, waist length is about 22 in. from my crown, it's about 25 in. since my hair grows about 5 in a year, it should take me 4.5 - 5 years to reach waist length.
